Johnson to achieve record Wed, 04 Nov 2009 11:10:47 -0800 ESPN.com reports fans of the Kansas City Chiefs have started an online petition asking general manager Scott Pioli to deactivate RB Larry Johnson so that he cannot surpass former NFL RB Priest Holmes for the team's all-time rushing record. Johnson is just 75 yards shy of the record. "We are asking you, as fans of this team, this organization, and of the pride that this city has in the Chiefs, please deactivate Larry Johnson. Please do not let his name sit atop the all-time rushing leaders in Kansas City Chiefs history," the petition says. "He has never represented anything close to the values that we have for our Chiefs and it would be another dagger to the fans that continue to support this proud franchise."

However, the team is cautious of the precedent releasing Johnson might set. The team does not want to send a message that if a player wants out of Kansas City, all he would have to do is speak out or act up to get his way. The team is keeping a close eye on Johnson and how he reacts to his suspension, according to the source.
Chiefs | Johnson may still face punishment from league Sun, 01 Nov 2009 01:40:24 -0700 Updating previous reports, The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson's agent Peter Schaffer said nothing has been signed in regards to an agreement between Johnson and the Chiefs to reduce his suspension in half, saving him more than $300,000. "We've been working hard at it since Thursday," Schaffer said. "We think we have a positive resolution and we'll be able to move forward in the right direction." The two-week suspension would have cost Johnson about $630,000. He may still face punishment from the NFL, too.
