Cardinals | Carson Palmer practices in full

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 13:48:10 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (not injury related) was a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is in no danger of missing this weekend's tilt with the Falcons, but his numbers have regressed as of late, posting a QB rating of less than 81.0 in three of his last four games. With the way he's been trending down, he's not a recommended option for most leagues, especially at this critical juncture in the campaign with fantasy playoff spots on the line.

Cardinals | Coach has Carson Palmer's back

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 22:02:51 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer has seen his passer rating plummet from a career-high 104.6 to 83.6 this season, but head coach Bruce Arians said the veteran QB is not the team's problem. "But Carson, he put a lot of trust in some guys that haven't come through for him," Arians said.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain who Arians was pointing the finger, but the finger of blame was not directed at Palmer. Even so, Palmer has taken a big step back this season and is more of a low-end QB1 or must-have QB2 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer shaky in loss

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 13:40:40 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer was 20-of-38 for 198 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He was also intercepted twice.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer missed nearly half his passes, which isn't what Arizona fans want to see from their prime signal-caller. Still, Minnesota's 212 passing yards surrendered per game is sixth in the NFL, so this might be just a bad week.

Cardinals | No practice for Carson Palmer

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 14:44:55 -0800

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (non-injury) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: It was probably a day of rest for the veteran quarterback. He won't be resting this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, though. Minnesota has been a stalwart versus the pass this season, yielding just 10 touchdowns while forcing 10 interceptions. If you have a better option, bench Palmer this week.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer has three straight performances with at least 342 yards, although he has just four touchdowns during the three-game span. He is healthy again and productive for fantasy owners, although Week 11 will be a challenge against Minnesota's strong defensive unit.

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 17:42:28 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Palmer probably is receiving a day off and should be fine for the Week 10 game. He has thrown for at least 300 yards in each of the last two games and has three touchdowns during that span. Palmer will have a favorable matchup and should be a starting option in most fantasy leagues.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer went 35-for-46 for 363 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. He also fumbled twice with the team losing possession on one of the fumbles.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer was sacked eight times during game and posted most of his numbers in the second half when the game was out of reach. He will have a bye in Week 9 but should be an attractive starting option against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer likely will play

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 15:28:59 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer should have a favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers this week but has thrown for only two touchdowns in the last four games. He should still be considered a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer working on deep throws

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 10:06:03 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer is completing only 40.7 percent of throws that travel at least 15 yards through the year, down more than 10 percent from last season. He has only thrown for one touchdown on such throws this season, as opposed to 13 in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: While John Brown's injuries and Michael Floyd's inconsistency have certainly contributed to the decline, Palmer hasn't come close to resembling the top-five fantasy quarterback he was in 2015. With that said, the three-time Pro Bowler makes for an adequate plug-and-play option this week against a Carolina Panthers secondary that has given up its fair share of vertical passes.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer still limited

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 15:45:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer should be good to go despite his limited participation. He has a favorable tilt with the Carolina Panthers this week. The Panthers have been one of the worst fantasy pass defenses this year sans Josh Norman. The veteran thrower is a low-end QB1 play.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer limited

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 15:54:37 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer likely is taking things easy at this point and should be able to play against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. He has thrown for at least 287 yards in four of his last five games but has only two touchdown passes in his last four games. Palmer can still be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 00:03:27 -0700

Updating previous reports, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) will start in Week 7 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer was already expected to start, but this removes all doubt. Whether or not you should trust Palmer against a tough Seahawks defense is another matter. If you have a viable alternative you should strongly consider using it.

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 20:31:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) is expected to start against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7, head coach Bruce Arians said Friday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: While Palmer should play, a slow start to the season and a tough matchup against Seattle should have him riding the bench in most fantasy formats.

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 19:19:40 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Oct. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer has struggled to find his rhythm this year, and a breakout isn't likely to happen against Seattle in Week 7. Leave him on the bench if you have a decent alternative.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer shows signs of progress

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 12:33:51 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) threw "some" during the open portion of practice Friday, Oct. 21, according to The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer obviously isn't operating at peak efficiency, but he's a good bet to be under center Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks. Given his current health and this week's matchup, owners should look in another direction at quarterback. Palmer has been a disappointment in fantasy and reality as a whole this season, which helps to explain why Arizona has evolved into more of a David Johnson-centric offense lately.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer sits out

Wed, 19 Oct 2016 17:28:17 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer is believed to be dealing with a minor injury and probably will be able to play in Week 7. He will be facing a tough Seattle Seahawks defense but can still be a No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer exits from cramps

Tue, 18 Oct 2016 20:17:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) left the team's Week 6 game against the New York Jets due to cramping as a result of dehydration. He's fine heading into Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: So it wasn't even a mild strain, just some cramps. Palmer should be a full go this Sunday, albeit in a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Explore other options if you have them, but benching Palmer for injury reasons won't be an issue.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) was lifted from the Week 6 game against the New York Jets Monday, Oct. 17, midway through the fourth quarter due to a strained hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer was getting treatment earlier in the quarter, but his removal might be more precautionary and since the score was lopsided. Palmer remains a must-start fantasy option in all formats when active.

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 13:56:33 -0700

Cardinals | Full practice for Carson Palmer

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 15:45:19 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer will return for a ripe matchup against the New York Jets on Monday night. Even with Darrelle Revis, the Jets have been horrible against the pass this season. They and the Oakland Raiders are the only two teams to have allowed more than 1,000 yards to the position so far. Palmer is a solidly a QB1 this week.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) is participating in practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer clears concussion protocol

Tue, 11 Oct 2016 13:28:25 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) cleared the concussion protocol Tuesday, Oct. 11, and he will return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer was underwhelming in his previous two starts, but he lands in an ideal matchup to have a solid fantasy showing. The New York Jets have allowed the second most passing yards per game this season and 12 touchdowns through the air over the first five weeks of the year. You'll still want to make sure Palmer is all systems go before locking him into your lineups, though.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer should clear protocol

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 12:52:43 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) is expected to clear the concussion protocol Tuesday, Oct. 10, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: It will be an ideal return for Palmer playing at home against a weak New York Jets pass defense. Palmer has struggled so far this season, but this could be the matchup that puts his year back on track. Make sure he's full go, though, before plugging him into Week 6 starting lineups.

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 08:23:16 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) is still in the concussion protocol Monday, Oct. 10, but he's feeling great by all indications, according to general manager Steve Keim.

Fantasy Tip: The Cards will take on the 1-4 New York Jets in Week 6, and Palmer is probably questionable for the matchup. He'd be a fringe QB1 for the game in fantasy.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer nearing return?

Sat, 08 Oct 2016 21:18:04 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) worked out at the team's training facility Friday, Oct. 7, and head coach Bruce Arians hopes Palmer is in the "last stages" of the NFL's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer didn't play in Thursday's win over the San Francisco 49ers, but he'll be the man once he's healthy. The question is whether the team's success building their attack around David Johnson will change Palmer's role going forward. Even once he's cleared you might want to take a wait-and-see approach before plugging him back into your starting lineup.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer inactive vs. 49ers

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 16:33:19 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) is inactive for the team's Week 5 game Thursday, Oct. 6, against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: This ensures Drew Stanton will get the start under center. Stanton barely got any action last season but two years ago, he filled in for an extended period and was solid, throwing for 1,711 yards and seven touchdowns compared to five interceptions across nine games (eight starts). However, he might have some rust in this one, and with the Cardinals scuffling at 1-3, he's not a very comfortable fantasy option to lean on at quarterback right now.

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 11:44:12 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) has been ruled out of the team's Week 5 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer will have an extended period of time to be cleared before the next game, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Drew Stanton will be the starting for the Cardinals in Week 5. He will have plenty of weapons to work with in the passing game, but owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer attends meetings

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 20:11:18 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) sat in on meetings Tuesday, Oct. 4, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Palmer did not practice and remains in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: It seems unlikely that Palmer would be cleared before Thursday's tilt with the San Francisco 49ers, but Arians isn't ruling him out. Still, given Palmer's struggles for most of this season, there's no reason to risk starting him even if he defies the odds and is under center in Week 5.

Cardinals | No practice for Carson Palmer

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 14:13:32 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) did not practice Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Bruce Arians said there is a chance Palmer could clear the concussion protocol and play against the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, Oct. 6. However, fantasy owners will want to have a plan B in place. It's also worth noting that Palmer has a single touchdown with just 6.69 yards per passing attempt over his past two games.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer has a shot to play Week 5

Tue, 04 Oct 2016 09:12:59 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (head) "has a chance" to make it through concussion protocol before Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, Oct. 4, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Arians continues to hold out hope that his quarterback will recover from his concussion in three days, but the Cardinals' promotion of Zac Dysert from the practice squad Monday is a pretty good sign the team doesn't think it will happen. Drew Stanton is in line to get the start, which would be a huge downgrade for Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown and Michael Floyd. Expect a heavy dose of David Johnson on Thursday night.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer unlikely for Thursday

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 19:32:59 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) is unlikely to be ready to play in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, Oct. 6. The team promoted QB Zac Dysert from the practice squad to the active roster Monday, Oct. 3, a sign that Palmer is unlikely to be ready, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to bench Palmer just to be on the safe side. Drew Stanton is expected to get the starting nod.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer could play

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 14:21:15 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (head) is considered day-to-day, but head coach Bruce Arians is optimistic that Palmer will be able to play Thursday, Oct. 6, against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer's progress will need to be monitored over the next couple of days, but whether or not he practices before Thursday will be telling. If Palmer sits then Drew Stanton would start, but plugging him into a fantasy lineup would be ill advised.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer not at practice Monday

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 12:59:01 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (head) did not participate in the part of practice open to the media Monday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: This is to be expected after Palmer left Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams with a glassy look in his eyes. He should be considered extremely doubtful to suit up on a short week against the San Francisco 49ers. His likely absence means Drew Stanton will likely draw a start, which is a downgrade for all Cardinals' receivers. Expect a game plan focused around David Johnson on Thursday.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (head) jogged off to the locker room in the fourth quarter of the Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams to be evaluated for concussion.

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 13:58:33 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer went 26-for-50 for 287 yards and four interceptions against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer suffered a chipped tooth when his helmet was knocked off against the Houston Texans Sunday, Aug. 28, but he said he was fine. He completed five of his nine passes for 64 yards and two interceptions.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer hasn't been sharp in the preseason, but Arizona's offense has too much firepower for the struggles to continue. You should feel comfortable entering 2016 with Palmer as your fantasy starter.

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 11:15:02 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer received the day off from practice Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Tip: The 36-year-old quarterback checks out as midrange No. 1 signal caller for your fantasy club, as the Cards project as one of the top offenses in the league this season. Barring injury, Palmer should again approach the 35 touchdowns and 4,671 yards he posted in 2015.
