New York Giants DL Chris Canty said teammate DL Jason Pierre-Paul has the potential to be as good as former NFL DL Reggie White. "There is really nobody in the league right now that you can compare him to," Canty said. "The only person that kind of sticks out where you can compare him to - and I can't believe I am saying this - but he reminds me a lot of Reggie White. His ability to play all those different positions and to impact the football game the way he does, he is an unbelievable talent."

ESPN.com reports Washington Redskins DL Albert Haynesworth said the team will not regret signing him to a lucrative contract. "You're not going to remember Albert Haynesworth as a bust," Haynesworth said. "With the contract, it's going to be all on me. My goal is to be the best player on the field and to eventually get to that Hall of Fame status and be mentioned with Reggie White and Bruce Smith and all the greats."

Dylan B. Tomlinson, of PackersNews.com, reports Green Bay Packers chairman and CEO Bob Harlan sent his regrets for not being able to attend DL Reggie White's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday, Aug. 5. Harlan said, " I didn't want to miss Reggie's induction for anything. The timing of this is unfortunate. Everyone knows how much Reggie meant to the Packers, the city of Green Bay, and everyone he came to know. His induction will be a truly historic day for his family and this franchise, and I'm extremely disappointed I can't be there." Harlan was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital Thursday, Aug. 3, with a suspected gallstone.

Larry O'Rourke, of The Morning Call, reports Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said he still feels cheated by not being able to sign DL Reggie White's paychecks. White will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday, Aug. 5. Lurie, who bought the team in 1995, said, "When I first got the call that the Eagles were available, the very first thought I had was, 'That's Reggie White's franchise.' You get the thought of the great fans, rabid city, but Reggie White - 'That's Reggie White's franchise.' It was a shock when he died (in December 2004). ... I'm very proud he was here. I feel so frustrated that I bought the team (two years) after he left, (but) we were able to keep up a wonderful relationship right up to the end."

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Hall of Fame DL Reggie White will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame without a team affiliation. On the stage where induction speeches take place, White's mural will feature a portrait and an action shot. He will wear a Green Bay Packers uniform in one and a Philadelphia Eagles uniform in the either. Hall of Fame vice president of communications Joe Horrigan did not go into details on the layout of the mural, but said the three NFL teams White played for would be represented.

The Canton Repository reports tickets for the AFC-NFC Hall of Fame Game between the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles Aug. 6 at Fawcett Stadium have sold out. Although a sellout for the enshrinement ceremony is anticipated, a limited number of tickets remain available. The Class of 2006 is composed of QB Troy Aikman, LB Harry Carson, head coach John Madden, QB Warren Moon, DE Reggie White and OL Rayfield Wright.

Nick Fierro, of the Express-Times, reports according to a report on their Web site, PhiladelphiaEagles.com, the Eagles will play the Oakland Raiders in the Hall of Fame preseason game in Canton, Ohio, Aug. 6. The game comes a day after an enshrinement ceremony for former NFL DE Reggie White and the other five inductees at the same site.
