Updating ongoing reports, Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars rookie PK Seth Marler is listed as the starting kicker on the depth chart released on Tuesday. However, head coach Jack Del Rio said kickers James Tuthill and Danny Boyd should not be counted out. "Those guys are battling, and it's still wide open," Del Rio said. The coach also said that he will most likely keep two kickers, one for field goals and one for kickoffs.

According to the Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville Jaguars PK Seth Marler impressed head coach Jack Del Rio over the weekend with a 55-yard field goal Del Rio said might have been good from 65 yards. "Seth Marler showed what kind of good, live legs we have here," Del Rio said. "That was a really nice hit. That competition is going to be fun to watch." Marler is the prime competition for PK James Tuthill, whom the Jaguars bought in from the Washington Redskins.

Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports that Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio praised incumbent K Danny Boyd's leg strength during the final passing camp last week, but K James Tuthill was more accurate than Boyd or rookie K Seth Marler with his field-goal attempts. Tuthill finished the spring 12 of 15 from between 35 and 45 yards, while Boyd was 10 of 15. Despite the lower accuracy, the Jaguars say they still like Marler because of his leg strength and kickoff ability.

Updating previous reports, Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio singled out incumbent PK Danny Boyd on Wednesday, June 18. "Danny Boyd has done real well this off-season, and adding (James Tuthill) and (Seth Marler) has made it an interesting matchup," Del Rio said. Boyd has converted 9-of-12 field-goal attempts from between 35 and 45 yards this spring.

If the team thinks Tuthill is a better option, he will be the kickoff specialist Sunday, with Longwell handling FG attempts. The Contra Costa Times' Cam Inman reports it appears it may be a three-way battle at PK for the San Francisco 49ers to replace Wade Richey. The candidates are undrafted free agent Jamie Rheem, former XFL PK Jose Cortez and NFL Europe prodigy James Tuthill. "Hopefully we'll have those three in (training) camp and let them fight it out," 49ers special teams coach Bruce DeHaven said. The 49ers likely won't bring in a veteran kicker until after June 1 because of salary cap reasons. The team has not signed Cortez yet but they are, as previously reported, expected to soon. Both Rheem and Cortez were "7- or 8-for-9," according to DeHaven, on FG attempts, and each connected from 55 yards in mini-camp.
