Updating a previous report, according to Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com, free agent LB John Mobley (neck), recently released by the Denver Broncos, will sit out the entire 2004 season due to a spinal-cord contusion suffered last year. Mobley has left the door open for a potential return next season if the condition improves.

Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos LB John Mobley (neck) may sit out the entire 2004 season. Head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Wednesday, June 9, that if Mobley's condition doesn't change after further examinations later this summer, then the medical personnel will advise Mobley to sit out of the 2004 season due to a spinal-cord contusion he suffered last year. Shanahan said Mobley still has a spot on his neck and the doctor recommended he not play this year. While he'll be checked out again in a month or two, the doctors don't believe it'll change.

Lynn DeBruin, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Denver Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist said the team does not have enough information regarding the health of LB John Mobley's (neck) to make any decision about his future with the club. Mobley, who suffered a spinal-cord injury midway through last season, is scheduled to travel to California next week to meet with a neck expert who has been monitoring his rehabilitation. Mobley then will meet with the Broncos' team doctors and coaches to discuss his options.

The Denver Post reports the jury weighing the criminal case of Denver Broncos LB John Mobley will continue proceedings Friday, April 23, following hearing testimony and closing arguments that lasted until nearly 10 p.m. MST on Thursday, April 22. Mobley is on trial for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol in December 2002, which is his second DUI arrest in less than four years.

The Rocky Mountain News reports a defense attorney in the drunken driving trial of Denver Broncos LB John Mobley on Tuesday, April 20, has implied Mobley was pulled over by police because of his race. Mobley was arrested Dec. 28, 2002, by Parker, Colo., police officer Matt Stoneberger, who testified he stopped the All-Pro linebacker for driving 69 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Mobley will not be allowed to participate in the team's offseason conditioning program until he passes a physical. Shanahan noted he is uncertain as to when Mobley will play again.
