Colleen Jenkins, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers S Jermaine Phillips was released without bail Monday, Jan. 11. Phillips was accused of choking his wife after she questioned him about another woman. Judge Walter Heinrich ordered Phillips to not have any contact with his wife, Adrianne. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted, according to Heinrich.

Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers SS Jermaine Phillips was arrested early Sunday, Jan. 10, and charged with domestic battery by strangulation, which is a felony. He remains in a Hillsborough County (Fla.) jail and is being held without bond.

Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers FS Jermaine Phillips (thumb) suffered a broken thumb in Week 2. Head coach Raheem Morris said the team is concerned about the injury. "Jermaine Phillips is the guy we're real concerned with," Morris said. "He broke his thumb. Our doctor is going to see him again this morning. We'll update you on that with more detail later ... I just don't have a feel for what it is or how bad it is."

Charlie Campbell and Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers SS Jermaine Phillips said he is fine with switching from linebacker back to safety but needs to learn the new terminology at the safety position. "Safety is something I've been doing for the last seven years. It's just a matter of getting the terminology down and taking some more reps and getting on the same page with the rest of the defense so we don't miss a beat. Once I get out there I'm going to do what I do and just play football. Once you think about it too much it's paralysis by analysis, and you don't want that to happen," Phillips said.
