Ira Kaufman, of the Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Jamie Winborn will backup weakside LB Derrick Brooks in the 2006 season. Winborn had received substantial reps at the strongside spot in offseason workouts and it appeared he would challenge incumbent LB Ryan Nece for a starting position. "Jamie's a weakside linebacker," head coach Jon Gruden said Sunday, July 30. "He's a young guy who has been hurt and our attitude is go back and play where you have played great. We're more concerned with getting him back to 100 percent, doing the things I've seen him do." Unless the durable Brooks is hurt this fall, Winborn's primary contributions may be relegated to special teams.
