Updating an earlier story, Len Pasquarelli reports for SportsLine.com the three-year contract agreed to with the Chicago Bears by DT Ted Washington is valued at $7.5 million. Agent Angelo Wright wanted to make sure that Washington had a new home before the April 21-22 NFL draft. Wright had spoken to Pittsburgh coach Bill Cowher earlier this week to allay his fears over physical practices, but the Steelers apparently did not want to invest much in a signing bonus. Washington is now expected to join Keith Traylor in the Bears starting lineup at defensive tackle. The addition of Washington almost certainly guarantees that the Bears will now release one of their 2000 starters, Mike Wells or Jim Flanigan.
