Former NFL DL Chester McGlockton died early Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the age of 42. The cause of death was not immediately announced. KFFL extends our condolences to his family and friends.

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports if New York Jets DE John Abraham (groin) is out or limited next week, the Jets would go back to their DE rotation that they've used when Abraham was limited by a hamstring pull vs. Dallas and when he was suspended vs. Buffalo. DL Bryan Thomas would start and Chester McGlockton would play end in certain situations when DC Ted Cottrell wants a bigger run presence at that position. Both Thomas and McGlockton have struggled to make plays lately.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the New York Jets have apparently given up on DE Bryan Thomas this season. Thomas has yet to live up to his potential since being selected in the first-round in the 2001 draft. The team decided to go with DT Chester McGlockton at defensive end during Week 4 when starting DE John Abraham was slowed by a hamstring injury.

On the Redskins' first drive, his stunt occupying the Redskins' left defensive side allowed Jets DL John Abraham a clear path to his first sack of Ramsey. And on back-to-back second-half plays, McGlockton collared Redskins RB Chad Morton for a 1-yard loss and batted down a pass. ``Oh boy, he really did a nice job,'' Edwards said. ``He can play 25 plays and I think he's ready to play 25 plays.''

McGlockton, who has been on a separate training camp program in an effort to get back into playing shape, has lost 30 pounds and is estimated to be in the 340-pound range. "He's ready for the season," said head coach Herman Edwards. "He wants to play. He's getting to the point he knows he's getting in veteran condition and when you watch him every once in awhile, when he gets on the edge of somebody, it takes two guys to stop him."

New York Jets DT Chester McGlockton joined his teammates Tuesday, August 5, in practice for the first time since signing as a free agent earlier this summer, according to NewYorkJets.com. McGlockton was told to improve his conditioning before joining the team in training camp, and head coach Herman Edwards has been pleased with the results. "He is coming along quite nicely," Edwards said. "He has lost 15-17 pounds and is slimming down."

Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan said DL Trevor Pryce (nerve) underwent an MRI on Monday and is okay, as the results were negative. FB Tony Carter (nerve) also underwent an MRI and should be okay. OL Matt Lepsis (knee) played through his ailing knee and the team is hopeful of no setbacks. He was sore on Monday, as was OL Dan Neil (ankle), who re-injured his ankle. S Kenoy Kennedy (back) was in pretty good shape on Monday and was able to play through a back injury on Sunday. DT Chester McGlockton (bruised shoulder/calf irritation) should be all right as well. DE Bertland Berry (shoulder) suffered a 2nd or 3rd degree shoulder injury and is doubtful to questionable right now.

Doctors believe McCaffrey's headaches were caused by some sort of virus. McGlockton practiced with a brace on his left knee. Both are expected to play on Monday night.

If the pain does not subside, he likely will spend the season on injured reserve. S Eric Brown (concussion) did not practice Monday and he will likely sit out this week's pre-season game. Also sidelined Monday were CB Jimmy Spencer (strained right hamstring) and S George Coghill (hip flexor). Spencer will not play Friday, while the Broncos will make a decision on Coghill later in the week. DT Chester McGlockton (knee ligament) did some light jogging Monday and hopes to be back for the regular-season opener Sept. 10. He was injured Monday night when teammate Trevor Pryce accidentally hit him in the leg on a play that was whistled dead. An MRI Tuesday showed a first- to second-degree sprain of the MCL in McGlockton's left knee. He will be re-evaluated later in the pre-season to determine his status.

It is him feeling comfortable with the knee where he can make the cuts and get back in the swing of things," said coach Mike Shanahan. DT Chester McGlockton missed practice with a sore left shoulder. FB Detron Smith returned to practice as well. "Detron looked pretty good today," said Shanahan. Smith had been held out of practices from the opening workouts on July 27 while recovering from surgery for inflammation in his right ankle.

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports for the Sporting News that the Kansas City Chiefs should be in good shape down the road in regards to the salary cap. By releasing QB Elvis Grbac, CB James Hasty and DT Chester McGlockton the team took a cap hit of almost $14 million this year. However, it'll save them $7.5 million next year. The Chiefs, under head coach Dick Vermeil, plan to be a lot more careful in the future in regards to working with the salary cap.

DenverBroncos.com, as an update to previous stories, reports the Denver Broncos have officially signed DL Chester McGlockton (Chiefs) and officially re-signed OL K.C. Jones. While contract terms were not released, McGlockton reported received a four-year deal while Jones received a one-year.

Adam Schefter reports for the Denver Post a different set of contract terms for the contract WR Eddie Kennison agreed to with the Denver Broncos. He reports the deal as a two-year, $1.8 million deal that includes a $500,000 signing bonus. Kennison's addition fills Denver's last pressing need and gives the Broncos enormous flexibility in the April 21-22 NFL draft. DT Chester McGlockton, who agreed to terms with the Broncos earlier this off-season, is expected to arrive in Denver on Monday to take his physical and if passed, sign his new four-year contract. The Broncos, as previously reported, are expected to open the Monday Night Football schedule at home against the Giants and also play at Dallas on Thanksgiving and now word is they will have a Monday night road game at Oakland.
