Former NFL DL Chester McGlockton died early Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the age of 42. The cause of death was not immediately announced. KFFL extends our condolences to his family and friends.

The Associated Press reports New York Jets DL Bryan Thomas will start in place in injured DE John Abraham (groin) in Sunday's, Nov. 2, game against the New York Giants. DT Chester McGlockton and DE Matt Walters will also see playing time.

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports if New York Jets DE John Abraham (groin) is out or limited next week, the Jets would go back to their DE rotation that they've used when Abraham was limited by a hamstring pull vs. Dallas and when he was suspended vs. Buffalo. DL Bryan Thomas would start and Chester McGlockton would play end in certain situations when DC Ted Cottrell wants a bigger run presence at that position. Both Thomas and McGlockton have struggled to make plays lately.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the New York Jets have apparently given up on DE Bryan Thomas this season. Thomas has yet to live up to his potential since being selected in the first-round in the 2001 draft. The team decided to go with DT Chester McGlockton at defensive end during Week 4 when starting DE John Abraham was slowed by a hamstring injury.

Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets DT Chester McGlockton played about 18 plays in the Thursday, Sept. 4 game against the Washington Redskins and had an impact. On the Redskins' first drive, his stunt occupying the Redskins' left defensive side allowed Jets DL John Abraham a clear path to his first sack of Ramsey. And on back-to-back second-half plays, McGlockton collared Redskins RB Chad Morton for a 1-yard loss and batted down a pass. ``Oh boy, he really did a nice job,'' Edwards said. ``He can play 25 plays and I think he's ready to play 25 plays.''
