Paul Thompson, of the Daily News, reports Houston Texans LB Quincy Monk is looking forward to the 2005 season. He'll compete with LB Jason Babin for a starting spot, but will most likely remain No. 2 on the team's depth chart. "I want to compete for a starting job and whatever happens with that happens. But I'm just trying to go out there and mentally be ready to take on anything. Last year with a new staff coming in (in New York) it was kind of haywire. Now I'm more focused and I know really what time it is," Monk said. Monk signed with Houston December 15, 2004 and was inactive for one game before playing the final two games. He finished with two special teams stops, and even landed a game ball for his return effort. Whatever his role winds up being in 2005 Monk likes the chances for the Texans who are looking to improve on last season's 7-9 mark. "I feel really good, we've got a great team, a lot of talent," Monk said. "I really think we have the potential to do really great things with the amount of talent we have."
