NY Newsday reports the New York Giants are close to signing TE/LS Dan O'Leary from their practice squad to be their long-snapper this weekend. He would cost LS Bob Jones his roster spot.

The Star-Ledger reports New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel said PK Matt Bryant’s job is safe, for now, even after he missed his 4th field goal in his last nine attempts. He did say, however, that snapper Bob Jones and punter Matt Allen could be replaced.

The New York Daily News reports New York Giants P Matt Allen confirmed he'd be replacing P Tom Rouen as the team's holder on PAT and FG attempts. That came as welcome news to PK Matt Bryant, who was 11-for-11 on field goals with Allen holding in the first seven games. Also, C Chris Bober is expected to replace LS Bob Jones in FG tries. Jones, according to Allen, will continue to be the long-snapper on the punt team.

Michael Eisen for Giants.com reports the New York Giants kicking game had plenty of problems on Sunday. The team missed two field goals and two extra points, but PK Matt Bryant wasn’t the only player to blame. Snapper Bob Jones and holder Tom Rouen also had problems.

The Tribune Review reports undrafted rookie LS/DE Bob Jones (Penn State) is expected to compete with Mike Schneck for the team's long-snapper duties in training camp. The Steelers also want to try Jones at defensive end.
