Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports the San Diego Chargers have released S Jerry Wilson. He started every game for them in 2003 and 2004 but played only a handful of downs in 2005.

Associated Press reports San Diego Chargers S Bhawoh Jue is pushing for a starting job at free safety during training camp. Jue, who has started 11 games during his career, said he wants to have a chance to start at this point in his career. He is battling with veteran S Jerry Wilson for the starting role. Jue said there is still a learning curve because the defense is new. Right now, he is running as the No. 2 at the free safety spot.

Jenna Sampson, of Chargers.com, reports the battle to become the San Diego Chargers' starting free safety is beginning to heat up. FS Jerry Wilson, SS Bhawoh Jue and FS Clinton Hart are all in the mix. "They're all three different types of athletes," head coach Marty Schottenheimer said. "(Bhawoh Jue) is a big strong physical guy, and either Bhawoh or Clinton Hart can play strong safety for you, so we'll just play it out with those three, Jerry Wilson included, Robb Butler, we'll be able to come up with a pretty solid unit."
