Harvey Fialkov, of the Miami Sun-Sentinel, reports it is believed Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban is looking to bolster the secondary, particularly because of the recent struggles of nickel CB Reggie Howard. The club had contacted free agent CB Terrell Buckley earlier this offseason, but have not made contact with him recently.

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports free agent CB Terrell Buckley (Jets) is staying in shape waiting for another opportunity with an NFL team. The Miami Dolphins haven't called despite a need for talent in the secondary. "I haven't heard anything from the Dolphins," said Buckley, who still lives in South Florida. The 14-year veteran is hoping to catch on with a team for another year or two before retiring for good. With Dolphins' nickel CB Reggie Howard continuing to struggle, there has been plenty of talk around the team about finding someone more experienced, such as Buckley or free agent CB Bobby Taylor (Seahawks).

Updating a previous story, Alex Marvez, of the Miami Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins are not believed to be actively pursuing any free agent cornerbacks in the wake of CB Will Poole (knee) suffering a knee injury during practice last week. As reported, two free agents that were mentioned as possible candidates included CBs Terrell Buckley (Jets) and Ty Law (Patriots).

Joe Schad, of the Palm Beach Post, reports free agent CB Terrell Buckley (Jets) said Monday, May 9 that he is trying to reach Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban to offer to play the 2005 season with the Dolphins. "I feel like I'm a Dolphin at heart," Buckley told Miami radio station 790-AM.

The Sun-Sentinel reports the Miami Dolphins are trying to determine whether CBs Terrell Buckley and Omare Lowe can handle slot receivers in the upcoming year. CB Patrick Surtain has handled that role for the past five years, but if Buckley or Lowe can do so the team could then keep Surtain on the outside receivers. A scenario could develop that CB Jamar Fletcher ends up with reduced playing time.

Paul Kenyon reports for the Providence Journal New England Patriots backup CB Terrell Buckley confirmed today disciplinary actions were responsible for his being inactive for last week's game at Denver. "That was a situation that happened on the sidelines the week before," Buckley said. "It's done and over with now." He's not sure he'll be active this week and referred questions on his status to coach Bill Belichick.

The Providence Journal reports CB Terrell Buckley was indeed amongst the New England Patriots inactive players on Sunday. There has been speculation he was suspended by the team for the game, but there has been no further word from the team on the subject. His spot as an extra cornerback was taken by Terrance Shaw and Leonard Myers. DB Antwan Harris (sprained ankle), OL Adrian Klemm (leg), OL Kenyatta Jones and S T.J. Turner also were inactive along with WR Terry Glenn (hamstring) and rookie DL Richard Seymour (leg).

John Clayton of ESPN reports the New England Patriots aren't commenting on published reports CB Terrell Buckley was being suspended for an altercation with an assistant coach. Clayton said it may be until gametime Sunday before the word of his status gets out. One indication would be if rookie CB Leonard Myers moves ahead of Buckley as the team's third cornerback.
