The team did not provide any information about his condition, but said Washington had problems with the heat during the morning practice and was removed from the afternoon practice as a precaution.

Lynn Zinser, of the New York Times, reports the biggest surprise on the New York Giants defensive line has been the free-agent acquisition of DT Keith Washington. Despite his 11 seasons of experience, Washington surprised Giants head coach Jim Fassel with his skill as a run stuffer and will receive a lot more playing time. Washington will see even more action in the Saturday, Aug. 23 pre-season game against the New York Jets because Giants starting DEs Kenny Holmes (knee) and Michael Strahan (foot) remain sidelined.
