Judd Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings S Willie Offord (wrist) said he took part in all of Monday morning's practice, Aug. 21, but he will undergo further tests today on his injured right wrist. Offord is wearing a soft cast on his wrist, which at the very least was badly sprained Saturday, Aug. 19, against Pittsburgh.

The Pioneer Press reports Minnesota Vikings rookie S Willie Offord (wrist) injured his right wrist on the opening kickoff Saturday, Aug. 19, and did not return. Offord said X-rays didn't reveal any fracture but that he would have some follow-up tests Sunday, Aug. 20.

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings SS Willie Offord believes he is the odd man out now that the team has signed SS Dwight Smith. Assuming FS Darren Sharper starts at one safety position, Smith would compete with Offord and SS Tank Williams for the other. Offord said, "Everybody's expectation going into this week was that Tank and I would be competing for the job. I'm pretty sure that's all changed now with bringing in Dwight. I can't be upset. I can't be bitter about the situation. Obviously, I'm coming off an ACL injury. Everything's looking good now, but as coaches, you never know what's going to happen."

Judd Zulgad and Margaret Zack, report Minnesota Vikings S Willie Offord pleaded guilty Tuesday, June 27, in Hennepin County District Court to misdemeanor fourth-degree driving with a blood alcohol of more .08. The judge sentenced Offord to perform 32 hours of community service. Also, Offord paid a $600 fine, said his attorney David Valentini. Valentini said Offord challenged the legality of the stop but the judge rejected it.

Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings S Willie Offord, who was arrested April 18 for drunken driving, waived a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, and will have a pretrial hearing May 3. His trial date is set for June 7. He faces two counts of fourth-degree driving under the influence of alcohol, both misdemeanors.

Kevin Seifert, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings S Willie Offord was arrested and charged with drunken driving early Tuesday morning, April 18, according to a spokesman for the Minnesota State Patrol. Offord's blood alcohol content was not available Tuesday, but he was charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree drunken driving, which means it was less than .20. He was assigned an April 26 appearance at Hennepin County Ridgedale Court.

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings S Tank Williams said he feels more confident in the health of his knee, noting that he couldn't run this well at this point a year ago. He just finished up his first two days of practice at the team's current minicamp. Now, Williams is looking forward to replacing SS Corey Chavous and playing alongside Pro Bowl FS Darren Sharper. Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin said Williams appeared to be "cruising" Friday morning, April 7, but he said Williams has improved since then. Sharper expects S Willie Offord, if he's healthy, to give Williams a run for the starting job.

Agent David Canter said Offord's deal includes escalators and incentives, which were keys for his client, who is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament tear, but Canter declined to comment on the exact terms.

A deal is not believed to be imminent. Offord will be an unrestricted free agent March 3. "Willie has been cleared for everything but contact, and we're extremely excited about either remaining a Viking or exploring the free-agent market," Canter said Sunday afternoon, Feb. 26.

The Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings S Willie Offord (knee) is on the mend from last season's knee injury. He was in Birmingham, Ala., Tuesday, Feb. 21, to undergo an examination on his left knee. "He very possibly could be fully cleared, not for contact, but for everything else," said Offord's agent, David Canter. Offord is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

The Associated Press reports the longer Minnesota Vikings S Corey Chavous stays away from offseason minicamps and workouts the more it benefits S Willie Offord. Vikings head coach Mike Tice and team officials have made no secret of their displeasure with Chavous for staying away, but everyone expects him to be in training camp when it opens in Mankato at the end of July. This week, defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell gave glowing reviews to Offord. "Willie has been doing very well for us. He's had an outstanding developmental camp," Cottrell said. "(He has) a lot of confidence. That's the thing when you have guys with quality depth, it helps."

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Minnesota Vikings SS Willie Offord has taken advantage of the absence of SS Corey Chavous from the team's developmental camp. Offord has gotten the majority of practice time at strong safety in the first two days of camp. "Willie has done a great job," defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell said. "You hear him. He's vocalizing. Like in the first minicamp, he went over and grabbed one of the guys and he said, 'You're lined up [in the wrong place] ... get over here.' Willie went over there and did a good job. He's a guy that really stands out."
