Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand said the team has had talks with the agents for impending free-agent QB Shaun Hill, OT Jeff Backus, DE Cliff Avril, LB Stephen Tulloch and CB Eric Wright but would not say how far along any of the talks were at this point.

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) was in a helmet and shoulder pads Wednesday, Oct. 26, but he didn't take any first-team repetitions in the early portion of practice. He stretched, jogged and did some light throwing. QB Shaun Hill took all of the first-team reps. Stafford has yet to be ruled out for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle), who is being listed as day-to-day, is slightly less optimistic than the team that he will play in Week 8 versus the Denver Broncos. "I think every competitor plans on playing," Stafford said. "We'll see if that comes true. I've got to keep getting better to get there, but I want to, obviously." He said the ankle sprain is "kind of in a weird spot," and he's unsure if he'll practice Wednesday, Oct. 26. QB Shaun Hill will get the start if Stafford isn't ready.

Detroit Lions QB Shaun Hill was an efficient 8-for-9 with 63 yards in the preseason opener Friday, Aug. 12, against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hill also had a seven-yard run for score. QB Drew Stanton, who is expected to be the No. 3 QB, completed 7-for-15 for 110 yards.

Detroit Lions MLB DeAndre Levy (groin), S Louis Delmas (groin), OT Gosder Cherilus (knee), DE Lawrence Jackson (foot) and QB Shaun Hill (back) all took part in the team's first day of training camp Friday, July 29. All of them had offseason surgeries.
