New York Jets WR/KR Albert Johnson is improving everyday, according to Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record. Johnson, who suffered season-ending knee injuries in each of the last two seasons, is again becoming the player who was second in the AFC in kickoff return average (27.5 yards-per-return) in 2002, before blowing out his knee in week five. "Albert Johnson has been outstanding," said Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff. "He has excellent quickness and a real good burst. I don't know if he is completely 100 percent, but he runs pretty fast."

The Sun Times reports Chicago Bears S/special teams player Larry Whigham was fined $5,000 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct in the pre-season finale August 29 at Miami. He leveled Dolphins WR Albert Johnson on an incomplete pass across the middle. After the play he celebrated the hit a little too much for the NFL. Whigham said he will appeal.

According to the AP, Miami Dolphins WR Albert Johnson had arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue from his right knee on Monday. It was followup surgery to his ACL surgery last August.

According to their official site, Miami Dolphins signed WRs Brian Alford and Albert Johnson, RBs Jay Johnson and Vaughn Sanders, OT Dan Palmer and DT Lamain Rucker. Alford, Palmer and Sanders all spent time on the Dolphins practice squad during the 2000 season.
