Tue, 07 May 2013 07:55:35 -0700 New York Jets QB David Garrard will have a legitimate opportunity to compete for the team's starting quarterback job, and if he stays healthy, may very well be the Week 1 starter, according to a rival team executive.
Fri, 03 May 2013 07:04:48 -0700 New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez could very well be the team's starting quarterback this upcoming season. Sanchez may provide the team's best option at quarterback because QB Geno Smith is considered raw at this point and QB David Garrard is 35 years old and hasn't played an NFL game since 2010. Head coach Rex Ryan is likely coaching for his job this year, so he likely will pick the starting quarterback who will best help him win games in the short term.

I'm not here collecting paychecks," Garrard said Thursday afternoon. "That's not what I'm about. I'm definitely healthy and I definitely want to get out there. I want to be the guy but I can't talk about it. I gotta get on the field and do it."
