Darren Urban, of AZCardinals.com, reports Arizona Cardinals LB Bertrand Berry announced his retirement Thursday, Jan. 21, after 12 years in the NFL. Berry delivered the news during the weekly radio show he co-hosts. Berry said, "I've been playing football since I was 9 years old, 25 years, and with it coming to an end there is a little bit of sadness but at the same time it means there is a new beginning."

"I've really re-dedicated myself physically to being a better-conditioned athlete. When I got here in '04, I felt like I was a very well-conditioned athlete. I could go pretty much start to finish in a game," Berry said. He added that he didn't like the way he looked the past two years. "I looked at myself on tape and I just didn't look like the same athlete I was in years past. I made a concerted effort to drop the pounds, use my quickness and get back to that type of game and see what happens."
