Broncos | News continues to get better for Brandon

Thu, 10 Nov 2005 16:23:56 -0800

Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports the Denver Broncos continue to get good news regarding S Sam Brandon (chest). Brandon has gone through practice all week without any problems. Barring an unforeseen setback, he will start the team's Week 10 game against the Oakland Raiders. Brandon has been a big part of the Broncos 'big' nickel package, one they use when they believe an offense will spread the field and try to run against their five defensive back look. That package could be significant this weekend because the Raiders ran the ball out of their three wide receiver look 19 times last weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs. Brandon is big enough to play along the line of scrimmage and quick enough to help play the tight end or a third receiver in the middle of the field.

Broncos | Brandon Looking to Rebound

Fri, 05 Aug 2005 21:17:31 -0700

Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos FS Sam Brandon is looking to rebound from a disappointing 2004 campaign. Brandon went from a season-opening starter who ended up as a first-team safety for 11 of 17 games in 2003 to a backup whose action came almost exclusively on special teams a year later. He only saw brief work at safety against the Oakland Raiders and Houston Texans and played in just 10 of the Broncos' contests last season after not missing a game the first two years. "I just feel that I've let everybody down here," Brandon said. "That's the thing that eats me up." Brandon has performed fairly well during training camp, something he'll have to continue in order to land a roster spot.
