Kamon Simpson reports for The Gazette the Denver Broncos are giving weekend tryouts to veteran OL K.C. Jones, WR Corey Brown (formerly of Atlanta) and WR Steve Neal (formerly of the Titans). They join the previously reported QB Nick Rolovich of Hawaii as tryout players.

The Daily Camera reports Denver Broncos rookie CB Willie Middlebrooks was held out of afternoon practice Saturday due to a twisted knee. He is expected back soon. FB Tony Carter left practice due to dehydration. As an update to an earlier story, backup C K.C. Jones will inded miss the entire season after being placed on the reserve non-football injury list. His injuries are so serious coach Mike Shanahan said he didn't expect Jones to re-join the team until the 2002-03 season.

The Rocky Mountain News reports several Denver Broncos players have injury issues as training camp gets started. FB Detron Smith had a walking cast removed from his surgically repaired right ankle, but he isn't ready to resume full-team workouts. C K.C. Jones will initially sit out two-a-days with knee, back and head ailments. WR Keith Poole (hamstring) is awating word from the medical staff if he can practice. As previously reported, starting C Tom Nalen (abdominal surgery) will take part in only one practice a day for now.
