Updating previous reports, Baltimore Ravens LB Bernardo Harris (fractured fibula) had pins inserted into his leg Tuesday, August 12, in order to assist in healing his fractured fibula, reports Adam H. Beasley, of BaltimoreRavens.com. Harris originally was expected to return to the Ravens by late August, but because the injury has not healed correctly, his return is now not anticipated until November.

Baltimore Ravens LB Bernardo Harris (fibula) will miss four to six weeks after fracturing his left fibula while practicing on Monday, August 4, according to Adam H. Beasley of BaltimoreRavens.com. Harris had just returned from a foot injury which had kept him out of action over the weekend.

Updating an ongoing story, the Baltimore Sun reports Baltimore Ravens MLB Ray Lewis (leg/shoulder) has told them he plans to have a shoulder operation after Thanksgiving, but the final details have not been worked out. Team officials said it will take between four and six months for Lewis' shoulder to heal. Lewis said he made the decision to have surgery last week. Lewis will be replaced in the starting lineup LB Bernardo Harris. As previously noted, coach Brian Billick denied a decision on Lewis had been made.

The AP reports the one-year contract signed by LB Bernardo Harris with the Baltimore Ravens is worth $750,000. He will only count $450,000 against the team's salary cap. "Bernardo adds a veteran presence in the middle to back up Ray (Lewis) and Edgerton (Hartwell)," Senior vice president of football operations Ozzie Newsome said.

John Clayton reports for ESPN the Seattle Seahawks may consider signing free agent LB Bernardo Harris (Packers) as a replacement for LB Levon Kirkland. He hasn't scheduled a visit with the Seahawks yet because they are only offering the $650,000 minimum salary.

The Journal Sentinel reports free agent LB Robert Jones (Redskins) had a visit with the Green Bay Packers Wednesday. The Packers are looking for a replacement for free agent MLB Bernardo Harris. They made an offer to Ted Johnson (Patriots), but he re-signed with the Patriots with a reduced contract. "He did receive an offer from the Packers but it wasn't as good as the deal with New England," agent Jack Mills said.

The Star Tribune reports the Minnesota Vikings spent much of Monday in contract negotiations with free agent LB Henri Crockett (Falcons). They also had an impressive visit Monday with free agent LB Bernardo Harris (Packers). They have told the agents for each player that they will sign the first player that agrees to their contract terms. "We'd like to be able to sign Crockett or Harris," coach Mike Tice said. "But now that we've got the guy we really wanted, we're not going to chase anyone out of our financial realm. We'd love to have either one."

He'll join the previously reported DEs Keith McKenzie (Browns) and Reinard Wilson (Bengals) and LB Bernardo Harris (Packers) as visitors that day. Even after signing DE Kenny Mixon Saturday, the Vikings probably are still in the market for a pass-rushing specialist who would play right defensive end.

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Sherman said the team didn't suffer any injuries over the weekend that are severe enough to keep the players from being able to play this weekend. As reported, RBs Ahman Green (cramping/foot) and Dorsey Levens (shoulder) were both slightly banged up but are expected to play. WR Bill Schroeder (shoulder) banged up his shoulder during the game, as did LB Bernardo Harris (shoulder). Both are expected to play this weekend, too.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Green Bay Packers LB Bernardo Harris broke his right thumb during the first quarter of Sunday's game. Harris refused to come out of the game and had the thumb wrapped up so he could continue playing. He said there was no reason to expect that he wouldn't play next week. WR Bill Schroeder said he might have aggravated his ankle injury when WR Antonio Freeman tackled him while celebrating Schroeder's 41-yard touchdown catch. Schroeder said he had to get the ankle re-taped at halftime.

CBs Mike McKenzie (ribs) and Tyrone Williams (groin) missed Thursday's practice. MLB Bernardo Harris (sinus infection) and RB Rondell Mealey (concussion) returned to practice after missing Wednesday. KR Allen Rossum will test his hamstring today after resting it all week.

Also sitting out practice were DE Vonnie Holliday (groin), Kabeer Gbaja-Biamilia (stinger) and DB Mike McKenzie (hip).

According to Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel, Green Bay Packers GM Ron Wolf and coach Mike Sherman basically got the players they wanted where they wanted them in Saturday's NFL Draft. "If we know what we're doing it's a good draft for us," Wolf said. DE Jamal Reynolds, 6-feet-3 and 267 pounds, is expected to start immediately at "elephant" end for the team. The Packers believe they satisfied their need at WR with the selection of Texas A&M's Robert Ferguson early in the second round. "He'll push to be No. 3 and he has the ability to be one of our best two," offensive coordinator Tom Rossley said. Oklahoma MLB Torrance Marshall, a third round pick, will likely backup starter Bernardo Harris.

The Press Gazette reports in addition to the previously reported MLB Bernardo Harris restructuring, Green Bay Packers DE Vonnie Holliday also redid his deal. The Packers turned his $357,000 roster bonus into a signing bonus, which means for salary cap purposes it will be spread over two years instead of one. Holliday's base salary for 2001 increases from $252,000 to $418,000 and his base salary for 2002 remains $696,000.

Packers | Harris Signs Extension

The Journal Sentinel reports Green Bay Packers MLB Bernardo Harris has signed a four-year, $11.23 million contract extension with the team. Team negotiator Andrew Brandt confirmed the deal, but would not discuss the specifics of the contract. The team will realize a salary cap savings of $1.019 million as a result of the new deal with Harris. The contract calls for Harris to earn: a $1 million base salary in 2001; a $875,000 base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2002; a $1.3 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2003; and a $1.95 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus in 2004. The contract also included a $1.8 million signing bonus. The team still is considering re-signing TE Tyrone Davis and C/long snapper Rob Davis, both unrestricted free agents.
