Updating a previous report, Kent Somers, of the Arizona Republic, reports Arizona Cardinals RB Damien Anderson, who was involved in a serious automobile accident Saturday, Jan. 3, is recovering well from his injuries. Anderson needed to undergo surgeries to remove his spleen and repair a fractured eye socket during a three-week stay at the Phoenix's Maricopa Valley Medical Center. Anderson spent 14 of those days in the hospital's intensive care unit. "I'm thanking God every day," Anderson said. "While I was in the hospital, one of the doctors came in and said, 'If you were 10 or 15 years older, you would not have survived this crash'."

Arizona Cardinals RB Damien Anderson was injured in a rollover accident while driving off a freeway on Saturday, Jan. 3, according to the Associated Press. He is listed in serious condition at Phoenix's Maricopa Valley Medical Center after having surgery, according to Cardinals vice president Michael Bidwill. Anderson and his brother Billy were thrown from the vehicle, a Ford Expedition, after Damien steered toward an Interstate 10 off-ramp in Chandler, Ariz. around 2:30 a.m. He lost control, and the vehicle rolled down an embarkment before it came to rest on its roof. Another brother, Dedric, remained inside the vehicle. Both Billy and Dedric had surgery for leg injuries.
