Free agent CB Doug Evans (Panthers) has been linked to the Cowboys, but that seems to be more his agent calling the Cowboys than the Cowboys calling them.

According to the Nashville City Paper, agent Vann McElroy said he has yet to lineup any visits for his client, free agent DB Michael Booker (Titans). He said the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys are interested in him both at cornerback and safety. McElroy also said the Titans have not yet shut the door on a return for Booker to Tennessee.

The Titans Radio Network reports the Tennessee Titans have talked to free agent CB Michael Booker about returning to the team as a safety. GM Floyd Reese said that if they brought Booker back, he would probably be signed as a cornerback then worked on at safety from there.

The Associated Press reports Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher has named CB Donald Mitchell the starter at right cornerback in place of the injured Samari Rolle. He was chosen to start over veteran Michael Booker and second-round draft choice Andre Dyson, the only other healthy cornerbacks on the roster. "I'm sure all of the cornerbacks will play just because of the numbers we have," coach Jeff Fisher said.

Associated Press reports the Tennessee Titans defeated the St. Louis Rams 23-10 last night. Titans QB Steve McNair played one quarter and threw one touchdown to TE Frank Wycheck. Michael Booker intercepted a pass by Marc Bulger and made a 19-yard return for a touchdown. K Joe Nedney was 3-for-3. His kicks were from 43, 35 and 47 yards. Rams RB Robert Holcombe had a 2-yard run for a touchdown. K Jeff Wilkins was 1-for-1. His field goal was from 22 yards.

The team has assured Booker's agent, Vann McElroy, that they will re-sign him as soon as they're able to open up the necessary room under the salary cap.

David Boclair reports for the Daily News Journal the Tennessee Titans still want to re-sign free agent CB Michael Booker, despite their drafting of CB Andre Dyson in the second round. Booker was one of the March salary cap casualties, but management publicly has maintained a desire to re-sign him. "I think if we had more numbers at that position it would effect him," GM Floyd Reese said. "We've always had a great surplus at that position, and we like to have a great surplus there. Right now we don't." Just five cornerbacks are currently on the roster and two are rookies. Samari Rolle and Dainon Sidney are the only two currently with much experience.

The Tennessean reports Tennessee Titans CB Donald Mitchell is hoping to make it back from knee surgery in time to compete for a starting job at cornerback, now that Denard Walker has moved on. Currently he rates himself to be "between 85 and 90 percent" of full speed. he wants to be 100 percent by training camp. Last year he had a great camp going when he injured his knee. At the time, Coach Jeff Fisher said the Titans had "big plans" for Mitchell. Since free agent CB Michael Booker has yet to re-sign with the Titans, Samari Rolle, Mitchell and Dainon Sidney are the only players currently on the roster who have experience at corner in Tennessee's defense. Rolle of course has drawn interest, but no contract from the Rams at this point.

Booker, if he returns, could vie for a starting position at cornerback. However, the Titans must open more room under the salary cap before they can re-sign him. The Raiders, Giants and Chiefs have reportedly expressed an interest in him before.

Jeff Legwold reports in the Sporting News the Tennessee Titans continue to work hard to get under the league's salary cap number. They are trying to renegotiate the contracts of players like LB Randall Godfrey, OT Fred Miller and TE Frank Wycheck to keep as much of the current roster as they can. They want to bring back their three key free agents, DE Kenny Holmes, WR/KR Derrick Mason and CB Denard Walker, but it may be tough. Because they can't afford to, don't look for the Titans to pursue many free agents this off-season. The team also wants to re-sign free agent CB Michael Booker for depth at the position.
