Red Sox | No rift between David Price, David Ortiz

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 13:16:05 -0800

Free-agent SP David Price (Blue Jays) has no disagreements or running feud with Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz, as a source said they have tremendous respect for each other on or off the field.

Fantasy Tip: Chemistry can make or break a team, and this would be big because the Red Sox had chemistry issues a few years back that sank the entire team. The Red Sox seem like the front-runner for Price, who will be one of the first pitchers off the board in single-league and mixed drafts.

Red Sox | David Ortiz heading for final season

Tue, 17 Nov 2015 09:55:51 -0800

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz will retire after the 2016 season, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: The 39-year-old Big Papi didn't disappoint in 2015, hitting .273 (144-for-528) with 37 home runs and 108 RBI for Boston. He's now had three straight years of 30-plus home runs and 100-plus RBI, which is incredible at his age. His lack of positional versatility and age will probably make him a value pick again in his final season. But at least you know he'll give you something close to 25 home runs and approach 100 RBI if he can stay healthy.

Red Sox | David Ortiz sits out

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 14:22:33 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is out of the lineup Saturday, Oct. 3, with 1B Travis Shaw hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Shaw ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has the daunting task of Corey Kluber in front of him. He connected on a homer in two at-bats against him, but he has a .233-2-6 line the last week. He's an all-or-nothing play on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | David Ortiz may be rested

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 15:23:05 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz may not play much for the final three games of the season this weekend after being held out Thursday, Oct. 1, according to interim manager Torey Lovullo. Lovullo said Ortiz is dealing with "general soreness" and will ask the slugger how much he wants to play this weekend. Lovullo said Ortiz might only see a few at-bats if he does play against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) definitely becomes a name to avoid this weekend on FantasyScore as the regular season comes to a close.

Red Sox | Boston veterans sitting vs. Yankees

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:41:32 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz and 2B Dustin Pedroia are not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. 1B Allen Craig and 2B Josh Rutledge draw into the lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Craig ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Rutledge ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) are both nothing more than low-priced fliers at FantasyScore Thursday. Rutledge owns a lowly .354 slugging percentage this season, and Craig has a .131/.232/.190 slash line since joining Boston last year. Aim higher in daily contests Thursday.

Red Sox | David Ortiz sitting vs. Yankees

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 12:30:13 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 28. 1B Allen Craig draws into the lineup and is batting sixth against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Craig ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) owns a .134/.237/.195 slash line through 61 games with Boston over the past two years, and he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format, including at FantasyScore. Ortiz ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) continues to be a high-end option when starting, as he has a .275/.355/.638 line with seven home runs and 24 RBI through 22 games in September.

Red Sox | David Ortiz out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 26 Sep 2015 10:03:00 -0700

Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen Saturday, Sept. 26. 2B Dustin Pedroia will bat second and serve as the designated hitter, with INF Josh Rutledge playing second base and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Ortiz ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) from your starting lineups. Pedroia ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is batting .486 in 35 career at-bats versus Chen and is hitting .358 with three home runs and eight RBIs this month, so he definitely deserves to be in your FantasyScore lineups. Rutledge ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is 5-for-17 during the month of September and is worth considering as a value option.

Red Sox | David Ortiz drives in three

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 20:00:36 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI and a run scored in a 7-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles Friday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) has seven homers, eight doubles and 24 RBI this month, and he can anchor a lineup at FantasyScore with the way he is swinging the bat right now.

Red Sox | David Ortiz reaches 100 RBI

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 19:35:10 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, Sept. 24, giving him 101 RBI on the year and tying him with Ted Williams for the franchise record with nine seasons of at least 100 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Ortiz ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) shook off a slow start and has proven he is still one of the better power hitters in the game. Feel free to use him at FantasyScore whenever he draws a friendly pitching matchup.

Red Sox | David Ortiz sitting vs. Rays

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 07:22:07 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup for the Boston Red Sox Sunday, Sept. 13. 1B Allen Craig is batting sixth as the designated hitter against Tampa Bay Rays SP Drew Smyly Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: After hitting career home run No. 500 Saturday, Sept. 12, Ortiz ($5,400, 10.8% of cap) draws a day off Sunday. Craig ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) enters with a horrific .123/.233/.182 slash line with Boston dating back to last season. He is nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore players.
