Seattle Mariners OF Raul Ibanez hit his 300th career home run against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, Sept. 21. He also joined Ted Williams as the only players to hit 29 homers during a season in which they were 41 years old.

Seattle Mariners OF Raul Ibanez said he'd like to return for another season. He's clubbed 27 home runs this year and has an OPS of .812 in 459 plate appearances this season. However, he's hit only .221 with three homers and a .658 OPS in the second half of the season, showing signs of fatigue. "Staying locked in for six months in a row becomes harder as you get older," he said. "But the physical part, I feel like I can play this game physically for a while, I guess. That doesn't mean that I will. But I still feel like I can."

Baseball sources in the know indicate Seattle Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik won't be fired with one year remaining on his contract. The feeling is the Mariners have some good young talent on the way and if Zduriencik can retain 1B/DH Kendrys Morales and OF's Raul Ibanez and Mike Morse, he has a chance to really make some progress.

The Seattle Mariners will rotate OFs Michael Saunders, Dustin Ackley, Raul Ibanez and Mike Morse in the final two months of the season, and Ackley may be sent back to the minors if he isn't playing enough.
Fantasy Tip: Ackley will probably see the least playing time out of this rotation, so it'll be hard to find a spot for him on your deep mixed roster, unless an injury opens up playing time.

Seattle Mariners 1B/DH Kendrys Morales, OF/DH Raul Ibanez and RP Oliver Perez have been the subject of inquiries by teams as the trade deadline approaches, but the organization is reluctant to become a seller.
Fantasy Tip: The M's may be particularly unwilling to move Morales, but the switch-hitter is facing his first year of free agency this winter. He'd be more intriguing in a better ballpark for offense. Ibanez of course has been hitting out of his mind and would be an interesting piece on the right contender.

Seattle Mariners OF/2B Dustin Ackley should get his chances to play after his call-up on Tuesday, June 25. OF Michael Saunders is struggling, OF Jason Bay (hamstring) just recovered from a mild hamstring issue, and OFs Raul Ibanez and Endy Chavez are 41 and 35 years old, respectively. "He's going to play," manager Eric Wedge said. "We're going to get him in there. We'll keep working him in the outfield, but you might see him in the infield if we need him there." The manager also said that Ackley has earned his return to the majors based on his performance with the bat at Triple-A Tacoma since his demotion.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds like the M's are still going to have a hard time fitting him in there, so Ackley may have to make the most of his opportunities. Of course, if something clicked while he was on the farm, he may just do so. Seattle is looking for a reason to commit to him, so Ackley is worth stashing in 15-team mixed leagues and those deeper, just in case.

The Seattle Mariners placed OF Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 25, and recalled 2B Dustin Ackley from the minors in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Baker notes that Ackley has been brought up to play the outfield. Remember, Mike Morse (quadriceps) is also on the DL. However, it remains to be seen how much Ackley will play in the outfield, with Endy Chavez, Michael Saunders and Raul Ibanez also in play in the outfield from the left side. For now, Ackley should be owned in AL-only leagues in case he winds up playing often.

Seattle Mariners 1B Justin Smoak (oblique) swung a bat left-handed Wednesday, June 12, and if that goes well, he's likely to begin a rehab assignment on Thursday, June 13.
Fantasy Tip: Kendrys Morales has dealt with some mild back pain, so if that remains an issue, perhaps the M's will make a swap. Otherwise, the playing time crunch will be back on the Emerald City. Raul Ibanez has provided much needed power and may be tough to sit down.
