ESPN.com reports former MLB OF Bernie Williams said he is still interested in returning to play in the major leagues after playing for Puerto Rico in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Williams said he is not interested in playing for an independent team or working his way back through the minors.

The Associated Press reports former MLB OF Bernie Williams has denied a report that he allegedly hit a woman at a nightclub while she took his picture. "I do want to say this: That there are some reports that are represented in the media that are inaccurate. Hopefully, the matter will be clarified sooner or later, and the truth will come out," Williams said.

MLB | Williams accused of assault

USA TODAY reports a woman has filed a complaint against former New York Yankees OF Bernie Williams for allegedly hitting her at a nightclub while she took his picture. Officer Angel Nazario said the woman claimed Williams snatched the camera, damaged it and hit her in the face. The incident allegedly happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at a San Juan nightclub, hours after the Puerto Rican team beat the Netherlands 5-0 in the World Baseball Classic.

Former New York Yankees OF Bernie Williams, who is working out with the team in preparation for joining Team Puerto Rico for the World Baseball Classic, is not practicing this weekend because of a personal matter, according to The Associated Press.

The Associated Press reports retired MLB OF Bernie Williams may decide to play again but it will depend on how he performs in the 2009 World Baseball Classic with Puerto Rico. "Right now, I'm really trying to focus on the World Baseball Classic," Williams said. "From that point on, if I feel like I still have the desire, I may have to consider it seriously taking the opportunity to maybe perhaps play somewhere else."
