Bernie Soulliere, an area volunteer, and the late Roy (Doc) Miller, whose career began in 1903, will also be inducted June 20 in ceremonies at St. Marys, Ont.

The award, formally known as the Lionel Conacher Award, has typically gone to hockey players. Morneau is just the third baseball player, along with Ferguson Jenkins and Larry Walker, to receive the award since it was first given out in 1932.

The fans that stayed long after the Cardinals' Game 6 defeat began to chant 'one more year', and Walker teared up. "I couldn't even breathe," Walker said. "All these emotions were going every direction. I knew it was it. I'm not coming back."

However, his neck is beginning to flare up again, after he took a spill over the rail chasing a foul ball in Game 3 of the NLDS against the San Diego Padres, Walker did not take batting practice, but still hopes to play Saturday, Oct. 15, against the Houston Astros. Trainer Barry Weinberg also said the knee injury suffered by Walker last week was no longer an issue.
