The AP reports the Dallas Cowboys have placed WR Anthony Lucas (broken kneecap) on injured reserve. He will undergo surgery Tuesday in Dallas to repair his broken right knee cap.

ESPN reports Dallas Cowboys WR Anthony Lucas (broken kneecap) was injured at practice Sunday. The injury will likely end his career before it even starts. The injury to Lucas occurred during a pass-catching drill and did not involve contact, owner Jerry Jones said.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Dave Campo stated FB Robert Thomas (ankle) and WR Anthony Lucas (knee) underwent successful surgery. Both players are out for the remainder of the season. ESPN adds that Thomas was placed on injured reserve today.

Starting CB Mario Edwards is listed as probable with a sprained A.C. joint in his left shoulder. Practice squad WR Anthony Lucas (cramps) was forced to leave practice early on Thursday.

According to Chip Brown of the Dallas Morning News the Dallas Cowboys have signed WR Anthony Lucas, LB Lewis Mackey, RB Tony Taylor, OT James Wagstaff and DE Colston Weatherington to their practice squad. Informationally, practice squad players are not on the active roster and earn $4,000 a week for 17 weeks (or $68,000).

The Dallas Morning News reports although the Dallas Cowboys did not announce their roster cuts, the affected players know who they are. RB John Avery, WR Damon Hodge and DT Ben Williams were among the players with experience who did not make the final roster. S Sean Key, WR Anthony Lucas, rookie RB Tony Taylor, rookie LB Lewis Mackey and rookie DL Colston Weatherington, a seventh-round draft pick were also cut. There is hope some of the rookie cuts can be reclaimed for the Cowboys practice squad.

According to the Journal Sentinel, Green Bay Packers DE Vonnie Holliday (elbow) and CB Tyrone Williams (groin) are being held out of the team's current mini-camp. WR Anthony Lucas (knee) and RB Rondell Mealey (knee) were able to take part in individual drills and continue to make progress. DL Santana Dotson, DL John Thierry and DL Steve Warren are all still recovering from injuries and are also not participating, which was expected.

No. 1 draft choice DE Jamal Reynolds will be one of six draft choices in camp, to go along with 13 undrafted first-year players and 12 free agent signings. Those expected to be on hand, but not participate in drills include OT Scott Curry (knee), DT Santana Dotson (thigh), RB Dorsey Levens (knee), WR Anthony Lucas (knee), RB Rondell Mealey (knee) and DT Steve Warren (thigh). The Press Gazette reports two Green Bay Packers players recovering from the same injury, torn quadriceps tendons, are on different rehabilitation tracks. DT Santana Dotson has somewhat of a chance of being ready for the team's regular-season opener in September, but DT Steve Warren's rehab is expected to stretch well into the season. When their injuries occurred, Warren's was more severe. Dotson is about a month ahead of schedule on his rehab. WR Anthony Lucas (knee) hopes to be ready for training camp in July.

The Journal Sentinel reports three injured Green Bay Packers, RBs Dorsey Levens and Rondell Mealey and WR Anthony Lucas, all were able to take part in running drills at the team's mini-camp, but none of the three practiced. All three are recovering from knee injuries. OT Scott Curry (knee), DT Santana Dotson (thigh), DE John Thierry (knee and shoulders) and NT Steve Warren (thigh) all did not practice as well. ORT Earl Dotson took part in a limited practice. Wednesday morning's practice was the team's first on the new FieldTurf surface inside the Don Hutson Center. The new contract signed by TE Tyrone Davis was for one-year, $527,000 and included a $50,000 signing bonus. The contract is believed to include some weight clauses that Davis will have to meet.

Pete Dougherty (Press-Gazette) reports in the USA Today the Packers will have a mini-camp next week and once again RB Dorsey Levens will not be there. His right knee that caused him so much trouble last season is still experiencing swelling. Levens was given a physical after he signed a new contract last week and his right knee had some swelling from his off-season workouts. His agent, Hadley Engelhard, expects Levens to be ready to challenge for the starting RB job. DE John Thierry, also won't participate in the mini-camp as he recovers from arthroscopic surgery on both knees and his shoulder. DTs Santana Dotson and Steve Warren (quadriceps tendon) and WR Anthony Lucas (knee) are out as well. RT Earl Dotson will take part in some drills, while WR Corey Bradford (knee) will practice full-time.

LB Brian Williams' infection in his knee has improved and he is expected to be ready for next season. RB Rondell Mealey and WR Anthony Lucas, who both had knee surgery early in the year, won't be available for practice until training camp.
