Wed, 08 May 2013 15:47:31 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (knee) is the designated hitter Wednesday, May 8, because his surgically repaired right knee has been bothering him lately. Fantasy Tip: Pujols was already dealing with pain in his foot thanks to plantar fasciitis. With an ailing right knee added to the mix, this should make his fantasy owners very uneasy. If he continues to tough through it, how much will it affect his production? A disabled list stint could very well be in his future this year. As long as he's still playing, this might be a good time to sell on him.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 12:35:58 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) plans to play first base at least three of the four games against the Seattle Mariners. "It's the same," Pujols said about the pain in his left foot, "but I want to play first. I think I can play first." Some days his foot feels worse than others, but it doesn't bother him when he's hitting, but only when he begins to run at full speed, hits the bag or stands around for long periods of time. Manager Mike Scioscia said Pujols' starts at first base will be determined on a day-to-day basis. Surgery to correct the issue would put Pujols out for a few weeks and isn't believed to be necessary. Fantasy Tip: It's very possible that Pujols could have to put up with this pain for the rest of the season. How much that affects his offensive production remains to be seen, but the good news is that he doesn't appear to be in pain during his at-bats. Trading Pujols might not be a bad idea, but you're unlikely to get a great deal in return now that his foot problems are well-documented.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 17:15:35 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) said he is getting better every day.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 15:00:39 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) is back at first base Thursday, April 25. Fantasy Tip: This is good news for Pujols owners who have been worried about the condition of Pujols' plantar fasciitis in his foot. He's probably still dealing with the issue, and he may all season long, but the fact that he's out at first base is a good sign that it may not be bothering him all that much right now.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 11:42:46 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) said he is in serious pain while dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. "I'm dying," Pujols said. "It's hurting real bad." The team plans to use Pujols as the designated hitter for the time being as long as he can play through the pain. General manager Jerry Dipoto expects Pujols to recover over the course of the season. Fantasy Tip: This is definitely troubling news for Pujols owners. He is a tough player, no doubt, but you have to wonder if this is the year that Pujols will finally succumb to an injury. A stint on the disabled list is very possible now. Make plans to back him up immediately in case this thing gets worse.
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 20:11:10 -0700 With Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) relegated to designated hitter duties due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, OF Mark Trumbo made another start at his old position, first base, Sunday, April 21, against the Detroit Tigers. Trumbo was error-free, and he went 1-for-4 with a pair of walks and the game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning.
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 12:37:29 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (foot) started his fourth consecutive game at designated hitter Sunday, April 21, against the Detroit Tigers, because he is battling plantar fascitis in his left foot. Fantasy Tip: Pujols is expected to resume playing first base later this season, although the team is unsure when that will happen. He plans to continue playing through the injury until he can no longer tolerate the pain. However, the most effective form of treatment would be to stay off the foot, which would mean spending time on the disabled list to allow the inflammation to subside.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 08:01:11 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols (knee, foot) hasn't looked well in the field in the early going. One American League talent evaluator said they'd be surprised if he plays more than 50 games in the field this year. He is hobbled by plantar fasciitis, which has bothered him for years, and he had offseason knee surgery.
Thu, 11 Apr 2013 16:35:29 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia considers the team's new lineup, with OF Mike Trout hitting in front of 1B Albert Pujols and OF Josh Hamilton, to be a long-term look.
Sat, 06 Apr 2013 18:16:49 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols went 2-for-2 with two home runs and three RBIs against the Texas Rangers Saturday, April 6.
