Angels | Albert Pujols reaches 25 homers

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 04:37:05 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols hit his 25th homer of the season Sunday, July 5, in a 12-6 win over the Texas Rangers.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) may be the replacement for Miguel Cabrera on the All-Star Game roster, and if so he certainly put on a good audition like he has all season. He remains a worthy start in FantasyScore.

Angels | Albert Pujols open to HR derby

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 09:29:46 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols told reporters on Monday, June 29, that if he makes the All Star team he would like to participate in the Home Run Derby so that his son AJ can watch him compete. He has participated three times, finishing second, tied for third and fourth. Pujols said that this would likely be his last one. Pujols has 23 home runs, fifth in baseball, entering Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($6,000, 12% of cap) dismissed the idea that participating in the Home Run Derby hurts a players swing or impacts their second half performance, but it is something we have seen before. Pujols is a strong daily game player on FantasyScore at his current price. Pujols is a sell high candidate for a variety of reasons, but owners shouldn't be selling for fear of the "home run derby curse."

Angels | Albert Pujols moves up all-time list

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 22:23:19 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols went 1-for-4 with a double and RBI Monday, June 29, against the New York Yankees. He tied Tris Speaker for 13th place on the career extra-base hits list with 1,131.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($6,000; or 12.0% of cap) has looked a lot like himself lately after struggling with foot issues for most of 2014. He has re-emerged as a must-start FantasyScore option this season. He has 25 RBIs in the month of June.

Angels | Matt Joyce will not start

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 15:35:20 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Matt Joyce is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Monday, June 29. 1B Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fourth, while 1B C.J. Cron will start at first base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Joyce ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) likely is sitting out because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Cron recently rejoined the team but probably is not a great option for fantasy owners at this point.

Angels | Albert Pujols serving as DH

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 11:44:43 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Sunday, June 28, after starting the last two games at first base. INF Efren Navarro will play first base Sunday and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($6,000, 12.0% of cap) has been on fire this month, batting .326 with 12 home runs and 24 RBIs. He is 10-for-42 (.238) against Hernandez in his career, with a home run and seven RBIs. Navarro ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitless in nine career at-bats against Hernandez and should be avoided in FantasyScore.

Angels | Albert Pujols locked in

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:00:05 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols hit two home runs in a winning effort over the Houston Astros Monday, June 22, and he now leads the American League with 23 long balls. He has 15 home runs in his last 24 games and now has 543 career home runs, five behind former Philadelphia Phillies 3B Mike Schmidt. "It's the best I've felt since the 3 1/2 years I've been here," Pujols said. "A lot of the credit I give to the trainers and the good routine I do to keep myself on the field." He's slugging .581 and his OPS is up to .917, which is at its highest since 2010. Pujols' 150 total bases is third in the league behind teammate Mike Trout.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols' ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) power surge is likely directly related to his good health in 2015. As long as he stays healthy over the remainder of the season, he should continue to put up solid numbers, although the power output will surely slow. Continue riding him at FantasyScore for a modest price.

Angels | Albert Pujols ties team record

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 18:27:14 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a 3-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics Sunday, June 21, and his 13 home runs in June are tied for the most in franchise history.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) now leads the American League with 21 home runs, and he has turned back the clock this month. Feel free to stay on the Pujols bandwagon at FantasyScore for as long as he stays hot.

Angels | Albert Pujols will be DH

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 10:54:53 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols will serve as the designated hitter against Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir Sunday, June 21, and is batting fourth in the lineup. 1B Efren Navarro will start at first base and is batting ninth, while OF Daniel Robertson will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is receiving a day off from the field but is still in the lineup and should be a solid starting option on FantasyScore. Navarro ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is batting .296 with three RBI this month, but owners may be able to find a better option. Robertson ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has gone 2-for-7 since joining the team but is not a great option for owners at this point.

Angels | Albert Pujols grabs AL homer lead

Sat, 20 Jun 2015 05:24:10 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols hit his American League-leading 20th home run and added three runs, a double and five RBI to his stat line during the Angels' 12-7 win over the Oakland Athletics Friday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Over his past 21 games, Pujols ($5,600, 9.0% of cap) has a .354/.420/.848 slash line with 21 runs, 12 home runs and 25 RBI. He is top-end FantasyScore play while scorching hot, although, it is safe to expect him to cool at some point this summer, and his owners wouldn't be out of line to test his market value in sell-high trade negotiations.

Angels | Albert Pujols cleans up in win

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 04:24:45 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols hit his 539th career home run Tuesday, June 16, against the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 4-1 win. Pujols played in the cleanup spot for the first time since May 2010, when he was with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Pujols ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) was the catalyst to drive an Angels offense that scored just five runs in the past three games. As he is climbing the career home run ladder, Pujols has become a must-play in FantasyScore formats when healthy.
