The Boston Red Sox finalized their coaching staff Friday, Dec. 23, naming Jerry Royster as their third base coach and Alex Ochoa as their first base coach. Bob McClure is the pitching coach, Tim Bogar will serve as the bench coach, Dave Magadan will return as the hitting coach and Gary Tuck will be the bullpen coach.

Updating an earlier item, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports the Boston Red Sox signed OF Alex Ochoa to a minor league deal Tuesday, Feb. 6, with an invitation to attend major league spring training camp. Financial terms were not released.

The St. Louis Cardinals appear to have let outfielder Alex Ochoa go to the Chunichi Dragons, according to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Ochoa, signed by the Cardinals last month to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, agreed to terms with the Dragons on a one-year, $2 million contract that could go as high as $2.5 million with incentives.
