The San Francisco Giants did not make an offer to free-agent 3B Melvin Mora (Diamondbacks). The team confirmed a text conversation with Mora, but said there was absolutely no offer, contrary to what Mora said.

Free-agent INF Melvin Mora (Diamondbacks) said he turned down an offer from the Texas Rangers to come to spring training and compete for the utility infielder position. He said he declined and is waiting for an offer from a team closer to his home in the Baltimore area.

Free-agent IF Melvin Mora retired on Thursday, Dec. 29, after 13 seasons played with the Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Rafael Rojas of Meridiano Deportes. Mora hangs up the sneakers after appearing in 42 games with the Diamondbacks in 2011, hitting .228 with six doubles and 16 RBIs before being released in June.
