Updating previous reports, Atlanta Braves OF Raul Mondesi cleared unconditional release waivers, and was released by the team Wednesday, June 8, according to Mark Bowman of Braves.MLB.com.

Updating a previous item, Charles Odum, of the Associated Press, reports Atlanta Braves OF Raul Mondesi (knee) said Saturday, May 28 that he's been bothered recently by a sore right knee that has limited his power and speed. Mondesi also said the injury is a result of a torn right quadriceps muscle suffered in 2004. "His stats look bad, but if you look at it, he won some games for us," said Braves MAN Bobby Cox.

Sports Network reports the Atlanta Braves have benched OF Raul Mondesi and given him several days to decide whether he's willing to remain with the team in a reserve role. Mondesi will return to the Dominican Republic for the time being while he makes up his mind. Mondesi has hit only .211 with four home runs and 17 RBI in 41 games this season.

Morris News Service's Travis Haney reports Atlanta Braves OF Raul Mondesi was ejected Tuesday, April 19 for showing displeasure over being called out on a ground ball. On a ground ball to third, Houston Astros 3B Morgan Ensberg fielded the ball and threw down the first-base line. Astros 1B Jeff Bagwell appeared to miss Mondesi's back entirely but Mondesi was called out. "How can he see the play behind Bagwell, you know?" Mondesi said. "I don't know why he threw me out. I was surprised."

Associated Press reports Atlanta Braves RF Raul Mondesi (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury Sunday, March 20. He is expected to miss at least a few games due to the injury. Mondesi said he is expected to be ready for Opening Day.
