St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong now has seven hits this postseason, which is the fourth-most by a rookie in postseason history. Only Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria (nine in 2008), Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (eight in 2007) and Atlanta Braves 3B Chipper Jones (eight in 1995) have done better.

Retired 3B Chipper Jones's agent, B.B. Abbott, said that his client is retired and won't come back to play for the New York Yankees. General manager Brian Cashman has floated the idea of Jones returning to play with 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) out for the first month of the season.

Braves | Chipper Jones to have number retired |

The Atlanta Braves will retire Chipper Jones' number and induct him into the team's hall of fame on June 28. The Braves announced they will hold a banquet and ceremony honoring Jones before their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks that day. His number 10 is the 10th number retired by the team, joining Hank Aaron's 44, Eddie Mathews' 41, Dale Murphy's 3, Phil Niekro's 35, Warren Spahn's 21, Greg Maddux's 31, Tom Glavine's 47, Bobby Cox's 6, and John Smoltz's 29. All major league teams retired No. 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson.

Detroit Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera was voted as Player of the Year by his fellow league mates Tuesday, Nov. 6, beating out Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim OF Mike Trout. Atlanta Braves 3B Chipper Jones was voted Marvin Miller man of the year. Other awards went to McCutchen (National League outstanding player), Tampa Bay Rays SP David Price (American League outstanding pitcher), New York Mets SP R.A. Dickey (NL outstanding pitcher), Trout (AL outstanding rookie), Cincinnati Reds 3B Todd Frazier (NL outstanding rookie), Chicago White Sox 1B Adam Dunn (AL comeback player of the year) and San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey (NL comeback player of the year).

The Atlanta Braves will attempt to replace 3B Chipper Jones either with a third baseman or with a left fielder if they move OF Martin Prado to third base. The other priority for the club is to re-sign or replace OF Michael Bourn. "We've got to determine what we do in center field, and that kind of couples with leadoff," Braves general manager Frank Wren said. "And then how we replace Chipper. And beyond that, our club's pretty solid."

Atlanta Braves 3B Chipper Jones now heads into retirement after his team lost the first-ever one-game elimination Wild Card game against the St. Louis Cardinals Friday, Oct. 5. Jones made an errant throw in a three-run fourth inning. He was hitless in his first four at-bats before legging out an infield single in his final career at-bat in the ninth inning.
