Free-agent OF Andruw Jones (Japanese League) re-signed with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japanese League Tuesday, Jan. 7. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Free-agent OF Andruw Jones (Japanese League) completed his one-year contract in Japan, and he is likely to return to the Japanese League in 2014. There was speculation Jones received preliminary interest from some MLB clubs looking for outfield help, but his preference seems to be to return to Japan.

The wife of former New York Yankees OF Andruw Jones filed for divorce about a week after she accused him of grabbing her neck and saying he wanted to kill her, according to a court document. Nicole Jones said their 10-year marriage is "irretrievably broken," according to the divorce complaint filed in a suburban Atlanta court Monday, Dec. 31.

Updating a previous report, Japanese League OF Andruw Jones allegedly assaulted his wife after a Christmas party, which Jones allegedly became intoxicated at. According to the police report, Nicole Jones said Andruw became belligerent as they worked assembling a desk and grabbed her by the left arm. She pulled away and attempted to go upstairs, according to the report, but Jones grabbed her by the ankle, pulled her down and put his hands around her neck and said, "I want to kill you, I want to (expletive) kill you."

Former Atlanta Braves OF Andruw Jones was arrested early Tuesday, Dec. 25, on a battery charge, according to jail records. Jones signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Tohuku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League earlier this month.

Baltimore Orioles SS Manny Machado swatted a solo home run in the fifth inning in Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees Wednesday, Oct. 10. He is the second-youngest player in Major League Baseball history to hit a postseason homer, and the youngest ever in American League history. Although not on the Yankees playoff roster, OF Andruw Jones, who homered at age 19, was in the dugout for the home team. Jones did it at the old Yankees Stadium in 1996 while a member of the Atlanta Braves.
