According to Hunsicker, "We used 12 pitchers most of last year, which is uncharacteristic for us. If we use 12 pitchers again, we'll have to eliminate a position player somewhere." If the team only carries five outfielders, the last spot would likely come down to a battle between OF Brian Hunter and OF Jason Lane, assuming the team opts to keep Rule 5 draftee OF Victor Hall all season.
