The conversation was about Everett's frustration with a lack of playing time, and neither Everett nor Hargrove would discuss the matter afterwards.

He decided to go with OF Carl Everett instead because Everett had better career numbers against Boston Red Sox SP Tim Wakefield. Hargrove also felt it would not be fair to Lawton to have his first at-bats of the 2006 season against a knuckleball pitcher.
