Updating previous items, the Associated Press reports the Chicago White Sox and free agent OF Darin Erstad (Angels) came to an agreement Thursday, Jan. 25, on a $1 million, one-year deal with a club option for 2008. Confirming an earlier report, Erstad will receive a base salary of $750,000, while the team will have a $3.5 million option for 2008 with a $250,000 buyout. Further, the 2008 option price could increase by segments up to $6 million if he reached 600 plate appearances, with the buyout increasing as well to $1.25 million. Finally, the option price would go up by $250,000 if he were named a 2007 All-Star.
