Mon, 17 Jun 2013 14:19:38 -0700 Texas Rangers 1B Lance Berkman is out of the lineup again Monday, June 17, while he works on his mechanics. Berkman said he's had trouble getting his right leg straight when hitting left-handed due to the four surgeries that he's had. He's expected to return Tuesday, June 18.
Thu, 06 Jun 2013 12:09:55 -0700 The Texas Rangers placed 1B Mitch Moreland (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 1 hamstring strain Thursday, June 6, and recalled 1B Chris McGuiness from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. The team isn't guaranteeing that Moreland will return in 15 days. McGuiness was hitting .275 with a .382 on-base percentage, six home runs and 34 RBIs in 55 games with Round Rock. 1B Lance Berkman is playing first base and 2B Jeff Baker is the designated hitter Thursday. Fantasy Tip: You should only be concerned with adding McGuiness in deep AL leagues, as he'll likely be a bat off the bench. Mike Olt was an option to come up, but he's recently recovered from vision problems and the Rangers probably had no intentions of rushing him back to the bigs. If Ian Kinsler (rib) comes back from the DL before Moreland does, it'll allow the Rangers to keep Jurickson Profar in the lineup for a little longer, at least, if they want to move Kinsler to first base. Baker is the biggest winner for more at-bats in the short term. Add him in AL formats for depth.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 15:27:51 -0700 Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (hamstring) is expected to return from a tight left hamstring Wednesday, June 5, after he tried to talk his way into the lineup Tuesday, June 4. Beltre said his hamstring issue has been there all season. He doesn't think he'll need to go on the disabled list, but he won't play on turf against the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend, instead serving as the designated hitter. As a result, 1B Lance Berkman will likely play at least one game at first base in Toronto. Fantasy Tip: Beltre is getting up there in age and has a history of leg injuries that have required DL stints. Ron Washington and the team are making sure he has enough rest to avoid another one of these situations. Get Beltre back in your lineup when he returns.
Sun, 14 Apr 2013 23:43:57 -0700 Texas Rangers 1B Lance Berkman will likely be used as a pinch hitter during interleague play against the Chicago Cubs this week. Berkman has been a designated hitter at times for the Rangers, but the DH is not allowed in National League ball parks during interleague series.
Wed, 10 Apr 2013 20:44:01 -0700 Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington stuck with 1B Mitch Moreland Wednesday, April 10, with the bases loaded and one out against a left-handed pitcher. He had struck out twice earlier in the game after a lefty. Moreland ended up grounding into a double play to foil a big inning. "It was all about Moreland out there today," Washington said. "I had no intentions of using (OF Lance Berkman) right there (as a pinch hitter)."
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 19:57:18 -0700 Texas Rangers DH Lance Berkman posted six hits in the three-game series against the Houston Astros, reaching base in nine of his 12 plate appearances in the set. He extended his hitting streak at Minute Maid Park to 15 games, including his past 12 for the visiting team.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 21:33:32 -0700 Texas Rangers DH Lance Berkman went 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs Tuesday, April 2, against the Houston Astros. Berkman extended his hitting streak at Minute Maid Park to 14 games, 11 of which have come as a visitor as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, and now Texas Rangers.
Mon, 04 Mar 2013 11:45:44 -0800 Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (calf) still plans on representing the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic if the team advances to the second round. Beltre is expected to hit cleanup this year, with 1B Lance Berkman likely hitting third and OFs Nelson Cruz and David Murphy alternating in the fifth spot.
Sat, 02 Mar 2013 18:35:05 -0800 Texas Rangers 1B Lance Berkman (calf) is scheduled to play in the team's spring training game Sunday, March 3, which would be the first time he has played consecutive games since the start of spring training.
Thu, 28 Feb 2013 14:35:42 -0800 Texas Rangers 1B Lance Berkman (calf) went 2-for-3 and showed no ill effects from his injured calf while running the bases in his spring debut Thursday, Feb. 28.
