The Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Kat O'Brien reports the Texas Rangers are considering signing OF Danny Bautista to a minor league deal after meeting with him in the Dominican Republic Sunday. He will go through a full-scale workout today. Bautista, 33, retired from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays before last season because of foot injuries. He says he is healthy now and would like to play for the Rangers.

Updating previous items, the Associated Press reports the one-year contract agreed to between free agent OF Danny Bautista and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Thursday, Jan. 13, is for $1.9 million. He can also earn more money via bonuses, although the amounts weren't disclosed.

The Sports Network reports the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and OF Danny Bautista agreed to a one-year deal. Though terms were not disclosed, a $1.75 million contract was on the table to Bautista.
