Updating a previous item, New York Newsday's Jim Baumbach reports free-agent OF Moises Alou (Mets) has plans to attend the Kentucky Derby and take trips to Italy and Argentina during this year's baseball season, making rumors of his retirement more solid.

Adam Rubin, of the New York Daily News, reports free-agent OF Moises Alou (Mets) is expecting to retire after he is done playing for the Dominican Republic in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Alou stated that his back has been causing him problems lately and he is currently playing at roughly 75 percent health wise.

Jim Salisbury, of The Philadelphia Inquirer, is reporting a major league source said the Philadelphia Phillies have pursued veteran free agent OF Moises Alou (Mets) pretty hard. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. confirmed interest in Alou but did not sound as if a deal was imminent.
