The Associated Press reports the Los Angeles Dodgers have hired former MLB IF Jose Vizcaino to serve as a special assistant. Some of Vizcaino's duties will entail serving as an on-field instructor during spring training, as well as instructing players at the Dodgers' academy in the Dominican Republic, Campo Las Palmas.

Derrick Goold, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Cardinals signed SS Jose Vizcaino from the San Francisco Giants Wednesday, Aug. 23. Vizcaino, who was designated for assignment by the Giants last week, will join the team in New York and will likely fill in for SS David Eckstein (oblique), who is set to go on the disabled list Wednesday. Vizcaino hit .210 in 64 games with the Giants this season.

The Houston Chronicle reports the San Francisco Giants signed free-agent IF Jose Vizcaino (Houston Astros) to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. Vizcaino, who can earn another $400,000 in performance bonuses with this deal, previously spent the past five years with the Astros.
