Braves | Juan Uribe in lineup vs. former team

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:47:27 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe is batting fifth and playing third base against the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is having an awful season with just six runs, a home run, six RBI and a .596 OPS over 87 plate appearances. Add that he is facing Zack Greinke, and there is little incentive to roll with Uribe in any fantasy format Wednesday.

Braves | Juan Uribe to Atlanta is official

Wed, 27 May 2015 13:53:03 -0700

The Atlanta Braves officially acquired 3B Juan Uribe and RP Chris Withrow from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for 3B Alberto Callaspo, SP Eric Stults and RP Ian Thomas Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) projects to split third base duties with Chris Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap), and until one of them significantly out performs the other, it'll likely remain a platoon. Niether player offers FantasyScore owners a lot of upside, at this point, and they're low-end third base options in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Dodgers | Alberto Callaspo to Dodgers finalized

Wed, 27 May 2015 13:35:03 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially acquired 3B Alberto Callaspo, SP Eric Stults and RP Ian Thomas from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for 3B Juan Uribe and RP Chris Withrow Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last 574 plate appearances, Callaspo ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is sporting an uninspiring .219/.291/.282 slash line, so his fantasy value is minimal. However, his arrival in Los Angeles continues the third base playing time battle. Justin Turner ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has hit a 9-for-38 skid since May 5, and at that time he was sporting an unsustianably high 1.064 OPS for the season. Alex Guerrero ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) cannot gain any traction on consistent playing time, but has a .313/.348/.687 slash line through 89 plate appearances this season. Guerrero has the best bat, but his defense at third base is holding him back. FantasyScore players should be careful with Callaspo and Turner until they bounce back at the dish. Guerrero is always in play for daily lineups when starting, though.

Dodgers | LAD to get pitching in trade

Tue, 26 May 2015 19:04:35 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers will receive major-league pitching in the deal that will send 3B Juan Uribe to the Atlanta Braves for 3B Alberto Callaspo Tuesday, May 26. SP Trevor Cahill and/or SP Eric Stults are likely involved.

Fantasy Tip: Neither pitcher has been impressive this season but with increased opportunities for wins in Los Angeles, they could hold FantasyScore value when facing a good matchup.

Dodgers | LAD to acquire Alberto Callaspo

Tue, 26 May 2015 18:22:29 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired 3B Alberto Callaspo from the Atlanta Braves Tuesday, May 26, according to sources. It's a six-player deal in which 3B Juan Uribe would go to Atlanta. Callaspo was pulled from Tuesday's game and the deal is done pending league approval.

Fantasy Tip: Callaspo ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) will likely split time at third base with Alex Guerrero in L.A. Callaspo is worth a speculative add in deep NL-only leagues, and he'll now have sneaky value on FantasyScore as a part of the dangerous Dodgers lineup.

Dodgers | Alex Guerrero draws start at 3B

Tue, 19 May 2015 16:43:23 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Alex Guerrero is starting at third base and hitting eighth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson Tuesday, May 19. 3B Juan Uribe is starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is hitless in his last four games and is batting .243 (9-for-37) with one home run and three RBI after clubbing five home runs in limited at-bats in April. It's safe to say he's come back down to earth a bit. Guerrero isn't a terrible option for your FantasyScore lineup, but the way he's swinging lately it's hard to give him a ringing endorsement.

Dodgers | Justin Turner starting at hot corner

Wed, 13 May 2015 13:37:47 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 2B Justin Turner is starting at third base and hitting second in the batting order against Miami Marlins SP Jarred Cosart Wednesday, May 13. 3B Juan Uribe is starting on the bench yet again.

Fantasy Tip: The Dodgers are going with a revolving door at third base for the foreseeable future with Turner, Uribe and Alex Guerrero. Uribe will probably be the odd-man out more often than not, and he's probably only worth owning in NL-only leagues at this point. Turner ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .309 (17-for-55) on the year with five home runs and 13 RBI, including .333 (16-for-48) with all five of his long balls off right-handers. At that price, it's hard not to like him while hitting atop a very potent lineup for your FantasyScore lineups. He'll save you tons of money elsewhere, too.

Dodgers | Third base platoon for Dodgers

Wed, 13 May 2015 07:29:09 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Juan Uribe has been relegated to a committee at third base with 2B Alex Guerrero and 2B Justin Turner. Manager Don Mattingly said there is no official starter at the position.

Fantasy Tip: Alex Guerrero ($3,400, 6.8% of your cap) is probably in the lead with his .353-6-16 line. Justin Turner ($1,800, 3.6%) is more of a utility player and will fill in multiple spots, but Uribe is clearly on the outs. Guerrero is a solid 2B option on FantasyScore. Corey Seager remains a player to watch if Guerrero falls back or Jimmy Rollins doesn't improve his .174 batting clip.

Dodgers | Juan Uribe riding pine vs. Marlins

Tue, 12 May 2015 16:14:33 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 12. 2B Alex Guerrero is starting at third base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Miami Marlins SP Dan Haren.

Fantasy Tip: Guerrero ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) had a strong April but is just 4-for-20 (.200) with one home run and an RBI since the calendar flipped to May. The good news is he's seeing consistent playing time with multiple injuries to Dodgers outfielders. You could do worse for your money at FantasyScore than Guerrero against the soft-tossing Haren Tuesday night, though.

Dodgers | Juan Uribe sitting against Brewers

Tue, 05 May 2015 16:42:56 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 5. 2B Justin Turner is starting at third base and hitting fifth in the batting order against Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza.

Fantasy Tip: Turner ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .293 (12-for-41) on the year with three home runs and six RBI, including three home runs in his last five games. Turner is hot, but he's still largely a dice roll at FantasyScore as a cheap second base alternative.
