Mets | David Wright taking a breather

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 12:37:00 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright is not in the starting lineup, as expected, Wednesday, Aug. 26. 2B Daniel Murphy moves back to second base, and 3B Juan Uribe is starting at third base and is hitting seventh against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff.

Fantasy Tip: Stacking Mets hitters against Eickhoff, who is making his second major league start, isn't a bad idea. Murphy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has more upside for the price. Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) still has power in his old age, but he's hitting .239 (57-for-238) against right-handers this season.

Mets | David Wright batting fourth

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 12:36:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets 3B David Wright (back) is batting fourth against Phildadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Monday, Aug. 24. 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: View Wright ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) as a risky option at FantasyScore Monday, but at least he owns the handedness advantage against Morgan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) who owns a 5.04 FIP this season. In seasonal formats, you'll want to keep your expectations in check with Wright. He has missed all kinds of time, and he isn't expected to play every day.

Mets | Juan Uribe out of lineup

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:22:37 -0700

New York Mets 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 21. 2B Daniel Murphy moves to the hot corner, while 2B Kelly Johnson is starting at the keystone and hitting sixth against Colorado Rockies SP Jon Gray.

Fantasy Tip: Starting Mets hitters on FantasyScore tonight at hitter-friendly Coors Field against Gray, who is still looking for his first major league win, is a strategy that could easily pay off. Both Murphy ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) and Johnson ($3,500) are affordable and intriguing clicks.

Mets | Kelly Johnson sitting vs. Baltimore

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 13:49:32 -0700

New York Mets 2B Kelly Johnson is not starting Wednesday, Aug. 19. 3B Juan Uribe draws into the lineup at third base and is batting fifth against Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) hasn't caught any traction at the plate with New York. He owns a .189/.232/.377 slash line over 56 plate appearances since joining the Mets. Likewise, Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has been a disaster since joining the Mets, as he has gone 11-for-65 with a .229 on-base percentage. Don't fret looking elsewhere at FantasyScore Wednesday, and seasonal owners should be seeking replacements.

Mets | Juan Uribe with a day off

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 13:42:33 -0700

New York Mets 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 18. 2B Daniel Murphy slides over to third base, while 2B Kelly Johnson is starting at the keystone and hitting sixth against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has some decent pop, but he's surprisingly been better against left-handed pitchers this season, although 10 of his 11 home runs have been off righties. Gausman is no slouch against lefties in 2015, so Johnson is merely a mediocre outfield play on FantasyScore.

Mets | Daniel Murphy, Kelly Johnson out

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 13:57:08 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy and OF Kelly Johnson are not in the starting lineup against Miami Marlins SP Brad Hand Tuesday, Aug. 4. 3B Juan Uribe is starting at third base and hitting third, while SS Wilmer Flores receives the start at second base and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Against the lefty Hand, both Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Flores ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) are worth consideration as sleeper plays and salary cap relief. Uribe is hitting .291 (16-for-55) with five of his nine home runs against southpaws, and Flores has a .303 average (20-for-66) with four of his 11 home runs against lefties.

Mets | Daniel Murphy starting at 3B

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 13:18:45 -0700

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy will start at third base against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Monday, Aug. 3, and is batting second in the lineup. OF Kelly Johnson will start at second base and is batting sixth in the lineup. 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been playing at different positions but remains in the lineup. He has recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games with six RBI in that span. He could be a solid option for owners on FantasyScore. Johnson ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has only four hits in six games since joining the Mets and is not a great option.

Mets | Kelly Johnson sitting Thursday

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 07:31:06 -0700

New York Mets OF Kelly Johnson is out of the lineup Thursday, July 30, with 3B Juan Uribe hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is hitting .348 in his career against Andrew Cashner and is a decent low-end flyer on FantasyScore today.

Mets | Juan Uribe receives start

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 14:53:31 -0700

New York Mets 3B Juan Uribe will start in third base against San Diego Padres SP James Shields Tuesday, July 28, and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is receiving his first start since joining the Mets and could see more time moving forward. He is hitting .263 with three home runs and eight RBI this month and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Mets | Juan Uribe, Kelly Johnson join Mets

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 16:11:03 -0700

Updating a previous report, the New York Mets have acquired 3B Juan Uribe and OF Kelly Johnson from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for SPs John Gant and Robert Whalen Friday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) will receive everyday at-bats at third base while David Wright ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) it out, though Wright has no timeline for a return. Uribe is a low-end option in deep mixed leagues. Similarly, Johnson ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) doesn't tip the scales outside deep formats. He will likely bounce around the diamond a bit but figures to see the majority of time in the outfield and spelling Lucas Duda ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) at first base. Rookie Michael Conforto's fantasy stock suddenly looks a lot glimmer. Stay tuned for updates on what the plans are.
