Braves | Juan Uribe will not start

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 08:48:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels Sunday, July 5. SS Pedro Ciriaco will start at third base and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) likely is receive a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Ciriaco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting .321 in his limited playing time this season, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Braves | Juan Uribe on power streak

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 09:48:03 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe has hit three homers in the last four games and is hitting .400 in that span.

Fantasy Tip: Here comes the fine print. Uribe ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and the Braves face Max Scherzer tonight. However, he's a great play on FantasyScore any other day!

Braves | Juan Uribe sitting out

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 07:58:46 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Sunday, June 28. SS Pedro Ciriaco will start at third base and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Ciriaco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has done very well in his limited playing time this month with a .458 batting average and six RBI. Owners on FantasyScore could consider Ciriaco if they want to save money but there may be better options available.

Braves | Kelly Johnson starting at 3B

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 12:10:56 -0700

Atlanta Braves OF Kelly Johnson is receiving the start at third base and is batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann Wednesday, June 24. 3B Juan Uribe is taking the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) does have all six of his home runs against right-handed pitchers this year, but he doesn't really move the needle all that much on FantasyScore. Zimmermann has been very good at home this year, too, sporting a 2.75 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings.

Braves | Chris Johnson starting Saturday

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 11:11:27 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Chris Johnson will start at third base against the New York Mets Saturday, June 13, batting seventh. 3B Juan Uribe is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) only has seven hits in 42 at-bats versus right-handed pitching this season, so avoid using him this afternoon in FantasyScore.

Braves | Juan Uribe starting at 2B

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 13:22:28 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe is starting at second base Saturday, June 6, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Uribe is filling in for injured 2B Jace Peterson (thumb), and he will bat sixth in the order against Pirates LHP Jeff Locke.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is on a five-game hitting streak, but he has struggled against southpaws this season. Locke certainly isn't someone to shy away from under normal circumstances, but Uribe generally lacks upside.

Braves | Juan Uribe at 3B again

Thu, 28 May 2015 15:05:18 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe is starting at third base and hitting fifth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston Thursday, May 28.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) was hitless in his debut with Atlanta last night, and he's hitting just .238 (20-for-84) with a homer and six RBI all year. He's a low-end third base option at FantasyScore, and he only deserves to be owned in deep NL-only leagues. He'll likely split time at the hot corner with Chris Johnson (hand) when he returns from the DL.

Braves | Juan Uribe in lineup vs. former team

Wed, 27 May 2015 15:47:27 -0700

Atlanta Braves 3B Juan Uribe is batting fifth and playing third base against the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is having an awful season with just six runs, a home run, six RBI and a .596 OPS over 87 plate appearances. Add that he is facing Zack Greinke, and there is little incentive to roll with Uribe in any fantasy format Wednesday.

Braves | Juan Uribe to Atlanta is official

Wed, 27 May 2015 13:53:03 -0700

The Atlanta Braves officially acquired 3B Juan Uribe and RP Chris Withrow from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for 3B Alberto Callaspo, SP Eric Stults and RP Ian Thomas Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) projects to split third base duties with Chris Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap), and until one of them significantly out performs the other, it'll likely remain a platoon. Niether player offers FantasyScore owners a lot of upside, at this point, and they're low-end third base options in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Dodgers | Alberto Callaspo to Dodgers finalized

Wed, 27 May 2015 13:35:03 -0700

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially acquired 3B Alberto Callaspo, SP Eric Stults and RP Ian Thomas from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for 3B Juan Uribe and RP Chris Withrow Wednesday, May 27.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last 574 plate appearances, Callaspo ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is sporting an uninspiring .219/.291/.282 slash line, so his fantasy value is minimal. However, his arrival in Los Angeles continues the third base playing time battle. Justin Turner ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has hit a 9-for-38 skid since May 5, and at that time he was sporting an unsustianably high 1.064 OPS for the season. Alex Guerrero ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) cannot gain any traction on consistent playing time, but has a .313/.348/.687 slash line through 89 plate appearances this season. Guerrero has the best bat, but his defense at third base is holding him back. FantasyScore players should be careful with Callaspo and Turner until they bounce back at the dish. Guerrero is always in play for daily lineups when starting, though.
