Giants | Carlos Beltran to DL

Tue, 16 Aug 2011 14:23:57 -0700

The San Francisco Giants placed OF Carlos Beltran (hand, wrist) on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 16, and activated SS Miguel Tejada (abdominal) from the DL in a corresponding move. Beltran is eligible to return from the DL Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants couldn't continue to wait. Andres Torres (leg) and Pat Burrell (foot) are already on the DL; Nate Schierholtz (foot) may be headed there, and third baseman Pablo Sandoval (foot) dodged a bullet. Cody Ross, Aaron Rowand and recent call-up Brandon Belt are the club's only healthy outfielders. Mike Fontenot and Mark DeRosa can play out there, but Belt is the most notable fantasy beneficiary and is worth a short-term pickup in most formats in case he heats up and forces the defending champs' hand. Beltran may not need much more than a week before he's activated, but he's a slow healer.
