The Miami Marlins signed SS Miguel Tejada mainly to bring depth to the position in case of an injury to one of the regular starters at the spot. Vice president of player development Marty Scott said the signing was made for depth purposes and that Tejada impressed both offensively and defensively in private workouts.

The Miami Marlins have signed free-agent SS Miguel Tejada (Royals) to a minor league contract. The deal is pending a physical and if all goes well, he will report to the club's spring training headquarters in Jupiter, Fla. Tejada is in the middle of serving a 105-game suspension given to him by Major League Baseball last season for testing positive for an amphetamine in violation of the league's drug program. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, he should be eligible to return to the majors after May 31.

Kansas City Royals SS Miguel Tejada was cleared by Major League Baseball of any connection to the Biogenesis scandal. Tejada was suspended last weekend 105 games for his third positive test for methamphetamines. "The investigation found no violation by Miguel Tejada of the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program."

Kansas City Royals SS Miguel Tejada was implicated in the Biogenesis investigation, according to sources familiar with the case. Tejada was suspended 105 games over the weekend for positive tests for amphetamine use this year. Major League Baseball chose to go after Tejada for the amphetamine case over the Biogenesis case, though. It was Tejada's third positive test in his career for amphetamines. Tejada was allegedly a customer of Anthony Bosch's, and Bosch gave evidence that Tejada was his customer.

Kansas City Royals SS Miguel Tejada said he does not plan on retiring after receiving a 105-game suspension for testing positive for Adderall. Tejada will try to sign a contract with a team next season.
Fantasy Tip: It'll likely prove difficult for Tejada to get another job next season, but if he does, it'll probably be a minor league deal. Don't expect him to make the kind of impact he did this year, if at all.

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said INF Miguel Tejada will be the team's starting second baseman for the foreseeable future. Entering play Sunday, Aug. 4, he was 11-for-28 with six RBIs in his previous eight games and had started eight of the team's last nine contests. Tejada batted second Sunday, but Yost said that was due in part to the game being played in a National League stadium.
