Mon, 20 May 2013 13:21:27 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) started his third week of on-field rehab with defensive drills and hitting in the cages Monday, May 20. He fielded grounders and took 25 swings in batting practice in an indoor cage. He also ran from foul pole to foul pole four times. Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez is scheduled to be re-evaluated after his third week of baseball activities. Still, he's expected to return after the All-Star break. It's definitely good news to see Rodriguez on the field and swinging a bat, though.
Fri, 17 May 2013 11:00:16 -0700 New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) hit a couple home runs off curveballs from a pitching machine at the team's minor league complex in Florida Thursday, May 16. 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) hit off a tee and swung at soft toss in a batting cage as he finishes his second week of baseball activities. DH Travis Hafner (shoulder) took batting practice and hopes to return Friday, May 17. Fantasy Tip: Teixeira and A-Rod slowly recover from their injuries while in Florida. Teixeira could be back at some point next month, although when exactly that might be is unknown. You'll have to wait longer for Rodriguez; he'll be out until at least the All-Star break.
Mon, 13 May 2013 16:50:44 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) continued to take part in hitting drills in an indoor cage Monday, May 13, and also jogged as he begins his second week of rehab in Florida. Fantasy Tip: A-Rod is still expected to return after the All-Star break despite his return to baseball activities and swinging. As long as he's doing baseball activities, though, you have to be optimistic that he'll return in July and not later.
Thu, 09 May 2013 09:26:19 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) jogged, played catch and hit off a tee at the team's spring training complex for the third time Wednesday, May 8. Fantasy Tip: A-Rod won't be back until after the All-Star break, but it's a good sign that he's already going through baseball activities. With Kevin Youkilis (back) on the DL, Jayson Nix will continue to share duties at the hot corner with Chris Nelson.
Mon, 06 May 2013 15:33:56 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) has started a 30-day plan Monday, May 6, and the team will re-evaluate him after that. It's likely that he'll begin another 30-day schedule following that, which puts his return sometime after the All-Star break. "I really hope so. That's as specific as I'll get," Rodriguez said. "But I'm working 24/7 to get back on the field. There's no surprise: The way the season ended last year was very embarrassing. It was very tough on me, and obviously, (for) our team, it was devastating, the sweep against Detroit."
Mon, 06 May 2013 12:02:15 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) ran, played catch and hit off a tee in Florida Monday, May 6. Rodriguez could return to the team after the All-Star break. Fantasy Tip: If you own Rodriguez and are stashing him, this is really the best news we've hard on him all year. Rodriguez will take his time in his rehab, and he still has a long ways to go before he can even think about playing in minor league rehab games. Continue to monitor his progress.
Thu, 02 May 2013 12:46:27 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) has been cleared for baseball activities, and he'll report to the team's spring training facilities Monday, May 6. Fantasy Tip: This is good news for those that have stashed Rodriguez in hopes of getting some production out of him in the second half of the season. Monitor his rehab process along the way, but we won't see A-Rod until after the All-Star break.
Sun, 14 Apr 2013 08:18:17 -0700 New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez (hip) told manager Joe Girardi that he is now able to run slowly on a treadmill.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 16:24:27 -0700 Updating a previous story, New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez reportedly bought documents generated by Biogenesis as Major League Baseball intensified their investigation into the Miami-based anti-aging clinic that was allegedly selling performance-enhancing substances to players, according to multiple baseball sources. The documents were available through intermediaries working on behalf of the wellness company whose owners are believed to have invested with Anthony Bosch and are now trying to recoup money as Bosch faces a lawsuit. The middleman approached players linked to Biogenesis, such as Rodriguez, and invited them to bid on documents that came from the clinic and contained detailed information about the purchases of PEDs by players and possibly their signatures. Rodriguez apparently took up the offer and sent his own intermediaries to retrieve the documents. Rumors are that Rodriguez now has a list of names and documents that he has either leaked to the media to deflect attention from himself or destroyed them before they could be seen. "They showed baseball what they had," said one source, who understood that there was a box full of documents. "I don't think there's much left down there now. Depending what's in the documents, this could be a significant building block in baseball's case against these players?" A spokesman for Rodriguez is denying that Rodriguez purchased records in an attempt to avoid discipline.
Fri, 12 Apr 2013 14:27:59 -0700 Major League Baseball has reportedly discovered evidence that suggests a representative of New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez arranged to have Biogenesis documents purchased from a South Florida anti-aging clinic. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear what this means in the grand scheme of baseball's investigations into this anti-aging clinic and what repercussions it may have for A-Rod. Stay tuned. This is a long, ongoing process.
